AIBU to think an Edinburgh festival show about Meredith Kercher's murder should be stopped?

Someone with PTSD, a criminal conviction and a significant minority of the planet still believing her to be a murderer could've done anything? None of those things place any limitations on her options? Mmmkay. Good luck proving that one.

Amanda Knox was falsely accused and spent years in prison. Even now she has to move through the world knowing there are people who are so hopped up on Internet conspiracy theories that they still believe she did it. We got about a dozen posts in before some Rumpole of the Facebook comments section helpfully pipes up to demonstrate.

What this means is she has every right to talk about it. It's understandable that Merediths family, having not only lost her but been lied to institutionally, struggle with this. But nobody else has any excuse.

No one is stopping you from having an opinion, or from voicing it. When you post your opinion on a message board, however, you are inviting comment. That’s the whole point of message boards.

Utilizing comedy as a way of dealing with trauma is hardly something so fantastical that you’d even need to make it up. It’s very common, actually, and can be a healthy coping mechanism.

Amanda Knox is a complete narcissist, who will spend the rest of her life dinning out on this story. She has zero empathy for Meredith, or her family. They have conducted themselves with grace and such restraint.

People are perfectly entitled to start a general discussion prompted by a previous thread or by something they have observed. I didn’t name the thread, identify any poster or invite the original argument on the thread I started.

I have seen many posters being bombarded by people who cannot accept a difference of opinion. it has occasionally happened to me, but it happens to others on AIBU every day,.so that's why I decided to ask the question.

I do hope the inspiration for my separate thread has now passed your approval process.
