Long story short my dad finally had a brilliant gf who i really really like. They broke up as she was jealous he was texting various exes, then he briefly got together with one of them who is an absolute mess (thus proving the nice one had cause to be jealous.) Thankfully he went back to the nice one and they have now moved in together and it's all lovely. I text with nice one quite often as they live abroad and she's more reliable than my dad for getting stuff done.
I have just seen pop up on my fb feed that the messy ex (who I have never deleted and probably should) is planning on attending a public event that my dad always attends as a speaker. He's going with nice gf.

I dont know if he knows the ex is going. Worst case scenario he does know and is hiding it from nice gf. Or maybe he knows nothing and messy ex will show up at his talk and upset everyone.
WIBU to text him and let him know Ive seen messy ex is attending? Risking nice gf seeing my text and getting upset. Or text nice gf as a heads up. Or....should I just leave it fully alone?

I know it's probably leave it alone but argh...he is a bit useless in the EQ department and I dont want nice gf to be ambushed.

I’m normally quite conservative about getting involved with other people’s problems, but in this case I would call the gf and tell her that this has popped up on your social media. Assure her that you are blocking for the future, but give her the heads up. I think a call would be better than a text. Sometimes the nuances you intend can be lost in just words.

I hope it works out well

I would give him a call to worn him.

Don't get involved. They're all adults and can sort things out themselves.

Agree with pp.
You getting involved isn't going to prevent something unpleasant happening and will only result in bad feeling towards you from possibly all the people concerned.

Stay out of it.

‘it's all lovely’: no it’s not!
