AIBU to think the Milton Keynes concrete cows are disappointing?

I have been to Milton Keynes today with work and we decided to go and look at the concrete cows after hearing all about them for so long. Quite frankly, we all thought they were rubbish, really small and they look like they were made by a small child making cows out of plasticene. Not what I expected at all.

I have to ask - what was it that you were expecting? Something like this?

I think when they were erected (late 70s) They were unique and a little touch of humour as people said MK was too urban/boring/built up. Today we have many similar statues erected, like the temporary Wallace and Grommet ones in Bristol so we are not so easily impressed

Did you see the concrete cows at the museum
or the replica concrete cows on the roadside ?

The original cows were only one of a number of exhibits by the “official” artist for Milton Keynes, and their reputation is due to their placement in sight.
They date back to the 70s and have been subject to
vandalism, therefore the roadside cows are replicas with the originals at the museum

At the roadside next to Stacey Bushes trading estate.

You only saw the imitations then, and missed the opportunity of being disappointed by the identical real ones

Come over Wiltshire where you can be disappointed by a henge - not the tourist trap, but the less well known woodhenge, without any wood but concrete posts where traces of old wood had been discovered
