Fine, you might need an extension seatbelt. Just ask one of the attendants when you board.

If you need an extension seatbelt, you won’t be able to sit at any emergency exits.

Used to be a cabin crew and had a few horrible experiences having to move people from them as they needed an extension seatbelt. Felt so embarrassed having to tell them and also awful for the passenger.

If you can afford it you might well find it a lot more pleasant. And the others near you will probably appreciate it.

But I'd say you would physically fit in the seat, it just would be a bit squashed. You certainly wouldn't actually fill two seats. But the extra room would be a bonus.

I flew with my size 22/24 friend a little while ago and she didn’t even need a seatbelt extender

I flew to and from Italy last year with EasyJet and at a size18/20 i was absolutely fine, both with seat width and seatbelt length. The two seat idea is for people much bigger than you.

Ok my apologies I meant a regular sized person. I’m very slim & from experience I encounter regular people as not being overweight or obese.

My bestie is a size 30. She does need a seatbelt extender admittedly, but she fits in the seats on jet2 and easy jet. You’ll be fine.

I am a size 22 and was fine in a plane seat this year
on Tui. I can’t imagine you’ll have an issue.

When I was a size 22 I fit fine in one seat. Did need an extender on easyjet though.

I’m not being nasty I don’t mean to be anyway, I just meant that lots of women travel of various sizes & none that I’ve encountered needed an additional seat

Definitely no need to pay for another seat, you’d be paying double for your flight. I was a size 18/20 until very recently and never had a problem with airplane seats. I’d rather sit next to a size 18 woman than an average sized man, spreading his legs into my space and hogging the arm rests, as they often do.

If you find the seatbelt too small (very unlikely if you’re only a size 18) they do have seatbelt extensions available on board. Relax and enjoy your flights, you’ll be fine.

Size 18 definitely isn't two plane seat territory. I have never needed a seatbelt extender even at my heaviest. A window seat will also be fine.

But she is questioning it as she's never flown before if you don't want to answer and just be nasty to op then what's the point in beimg on the thread

Even if you buy a second seat, if no one checks in wont it be given to someone else anyway? Or can you tick a box to say you need the second seat?

I promise you don't need 2 seats at a size 18, I'd also be extremely surprised if you need a seatbelt extender. I'm a 16/18, I prefer a window seat if I'm travelling alone as I'll just go to sleep, you'll be fine.

You'll fit in it but it might not be the most comfortable - Ryanair in particular are tight particularly if you draw the short straw and get the middle seat. If you havent already done so Id spend the extra £7-£10 or however much they charge to book a specific seat to pick an aisle one though, just for your own comfort.

How tall are you and where do you carry your weight?. I won't lie, I flew Ryan Air as a size 20 and it wasn't fun. I didn't need a belt extender but I was squeezed into that seat (and in the middle). Those few hours were the worst of my life just profusely apologising to the people either side of me for taking up space. They were both fine but it wasn't fun. An aisle or even window seat would have been fine.

Whatever, nobody should be questioning whether they need 2 plane seats. Unless she’s so big that it’s a problem for other passengers to get in their seats or move around her then there is no problem. I don’t know anyone nor have I ever in 50 years big enough to need 2 plane seats

If you’re really worried put some news paper on a hard chair, sit on it then draw on the news paper at your widest part and measure that, seat size or below and you won’t need an additional seat.

No you won't need 2 seats and you won't need a belt extender either. Nor will you encroach on the space of the person sitting next to you. I used to be a size 18 so speak from experience.

I’ve flown as an 18 and while I did fit in the seats just fine I definitely didn’t have extra room in my space like a pp mentioned - I’m aware that different carriers may have totally different seat dimensions so not discrediting them; we also carry weight differently!
you’ll be absolutely fine, I had belt leftover so it would have accommodated me easily a few sizes bigger but if you carry your weight round your middle then do just ask for an extender.
secondary to this though, ive never known how you might actually book 2 seats for one passenger because when we book flights we have to have a name for each seat - do you just put the same name in for each?

If you're are meaning average instead of normal she is only one clothes size bigger then the average uk woman
