To ask for your most unhinged packing lists?

I'm a knitter. This sounds perfectly normal to me. Current project and another easy one in case of problems (one year I lost a knitting needle, luckily I managed to get a pair from a handy charity shop).

I do.

If I go self catering, I take freezer packs and my kids lunch boxes. I can then bring any food that needs refrigeration (like open jam and mayo) home with me in the hold. I literally take everything I buy abroad home.

Where sells these-looks great!

We did this....next time we will bring 2 one for daughters room and one for our room! It's made life so much easier not just not needing as many plugs but also being able to have the plugs where you want them rather than where they are

My hot water bottle. I always take one. We were driving and camping all the way from where I live, nearer the Canadian border, down into Mexico. Traveling through places like Death Valley.
Oh how they laughed at me, until it was so cold one night at the Grand Canyon, our outside water iced over. I was a snug as a bug.

My partner and I wobble along the line of preppers, his parents too and as we holiday with them we end up taking quite a lot but we drive rather than fly as it's only 1h between where the in-laws are and the Euro tunnel

Toilet roll, kitchen roll, washing powder. dishwasher tablets, bin bags, coffee, tea bags, olive oil, tin foil, cling film, tupperware/lunchbox, reusable coffee cups and water bottle.
My daughter has a lot of food allergies so we also bring oat milk, oat yoghurt, vegan mayo, margarine, baking block and stock cubes. We had a birthday whilst a way so we also brought a cake tin this year as well as vanilla essence - flour & sugar etc we bought here

Medical stuff- 3 first aid kits 1 in each car plus one in a rucksack. Paracetamol, ibuprofen and antihistamines, treatment for diarrhoea, glucose and oral dehydration tablets, insect repellents and bite treatments.

Car stuff - spare bulbs, fuses. oil, washer fluid and water, decent jack and socket set, hi Vis jackets.

Portable cupboard light in case of poorly positioned light switches in bedrooms, baby monitors in case we are further from bedrooms than at home.

Bluetooth speaker for my daughter to have audiobooks in the evening.

I didn’t, but I will from here for evening clothes at least!

On UK self catering holidays, I always bring a draining rack, proper sharp vegetable knife and a dustpan and brush. So many places don't have these items and it irritates me not to have them.

Im usually a minimalist packer. But this year on my self catering UK holiday, I took the airfryer.....

I once went to Paris for a few days with hubby and took a roast dinner. Beef in gravy, mash, tinned carrots, tinned potatoes, tinned peas and some Yorkshire pudding mix. WTAF was I thinking!!!!!!! My husband still laughs about it today. He ate it though 😂😂

I take tea towels to wipe my hands on after applying suncream.

Also a miniature screwdriver as I once had to remove the extending handle from my suitcase that got damaged in transit.

A full size foam roller. I usually travel light so it's gone in my hold luggage got foreign trips.

I do a lot of activity holidays and other members of the holiday group often laugh when they hear about my foam roller - but it's surprising how often I've had to loan it out to achy fellow travellers!

I pack on hangers.

Get to the hotel. Pull out the clothes on hangers put in the wardrobe.
Job done. Unpacked in 3 mins.

I always pack an extension lead! Then you need one adapter and you can use multiple plugs. Or charge more than one phone when delayed at the airport

Why not take your own pillow cases?

Oh, is that weird?! We only go on UK holidays in the car, but we always pack several extension leads. Holiday cottages & AirBnBs can be very hit and miss about having enough sockets and in the right place.

A silk pillowcase, which makes me seem very la di da but even excellent cotton ones now leave me looking like Miracle Max in the morning.

An eye mask.

When the children were little I also used to bring a very long roll of tin foil and masking tape for windows at night and any night lights which might make the children question where they were/ disorientate them if they woke up. Not worth going on holiday and getting even less sleep than normal!
