Don't you need an actual full-on plug for a CPAP machine, though? Maybe you can recharge them - I'm fortunate enough never to have needed one - but would you want to risk it running out of charge overnight?

Do you mean a bolster? We had those growing up. They served as an under pillow and had two separate pillows on top.

I don't think it's unhinged exactly, but I take a little rechargeable light which can be set to motion sensor mode or used like a torch. It gets used as a reading light if the bedside lamp is broken or insufficient, and then it goes in the bathroom on motion sensor overnight, so if someone gets up for a wee there is no need to turn on the bathroom light (plus noisy fan) and wake up the other person.

Well I once spent half my holiday hunting diy stores for one of those sponges to take marks off painted walls after cabin pressure made my foundation explode all over the walls and ceiling upon opening in the apartment 😅. I might take one of those as it saved my Airbnb deposit but wasn’t easy to find!
Otherwise I take a little dental filling after a memorable trip was ruined by a broken tooth and a distinct lack of emergency dentists.

I have been on holidays and realised DM had been prepared for us all to go direct to DGPs house and not via home…DGF died while we were on holidays and she had to ensure 6 DGCs (from primary school to late teens), and herself/DH were respectable for the 3 days there, and she stayed on longer alone. So she had decent outfits for us all squirreled away (we were driving).

I also have to travel a lot for work and currently live away from home for work - so I always have my overnight and my bigger washbags packed and ready as I sometimes have very short notice of trips…and now have elderly DPs/ILs to consider so I have a full funeral outfit at home that DH could bring, and I have a cabin bag packed ready to drop and go (overnight gear, 1 dark outfit that could work in an emergency, and a trousers and 2 tops/jumpers depending on season for non-funeral wear, wash bag).

If driving, I bring a clothes airer. Lots of places have washing machines but absolutely no drying facilities. It drives me mad.

If it was raw beef, you are lucky not to have been stopped by customs. Raw foods and dairy cannot lawfully be imported into the EU from UK.

Yes to the mugs. Spend ages looking at tripadvisor photos to see how big the cups are, then usually pack our larger mugs. Most people post endless photos of the view etc on review sites, all I want is a photo of the tea and coffee making tray, and inside the wardrobe for hangers!

If going to an Airbnb by car, I'd always take my own pillow and maybe bedding. I've had a too many migraines from foul fabric conditioner.

I have a radar key for toilets too, has saved us a few times. I consider the occasional use (five times in three years, Inc by my mum who actually needs one) to not be excessive.

I also have a little square travel fan. It charges via USB and has been a godsend. It's much better than most of those handheld fans.

Does it work on planes? Even though I travel flatbed, the noise drives me crazy

I have the fan that you recommended in a previous thread a year or so back. Going to a UK hotel by coach next week and it’s the first thing I’ll be packing.

I’m in Ireland like pp and funerals usually happen a few days after death as she said. Often there will be a wake/removal on the second day with a funeral mass followed by burial or cremation on the third. Families do wait for family members who are abroad to get home, but you really wouldn’t have time for detours!

I took some lightweight hanging shelves,
hangers and those hooks that fit over the door when we went to Spain this winter, having realised that the reason our booked apartment looked so clean and minimal from the photos was that there was no storage there aside from a hanging rail in the bedroom.

I also take a folding fan if there’s no aircon, and if we have the car we take one of Meaco fans as well.

That’s a good idea, It's so annoying when there isn’t an accessible power socket/USB socket by the bed. Or there’s no power socket close to a mirror for hair drying/styling.
