If your pelvic floor muscles are not as strong as they should be, you can find that after a bath or swimming, there can be a small release of water after you get dressed when gravity takes over.

I once had a condom inside for a full day. (I was on the pill as well so not worried in that way) but it took quite a bit of finding....

I was confused about whether I had one in after two days was a little smelly and it turned out once was wedged in there. It came out easily was absolutely disgusting but the good news is that it was all fine no fever and no infection.

Since the nurse looked it’s likely not there and they probably look all day at this sort of thing. I use period undies at night at least I know I don’t have to disrupt sleep to change it or while half asleep put another one in there and get in a muddle again.

The poster I replied to literally said to ‘insert hose’ so while it’s not the shower head, of course it’s gross!

Again, you'd have more issues with leaving an old tampon in there than a quick squirt with a shower or having a bath. Repeatedly douching is definitely not a good idea, a quick one off is extremely unlikely to do any damage.

Tbh I don’t think my vagina even accepts water 🤣 how would you get it in? Gravity would take over and you’d be doing mad gymnastics to hold open the entrance to your vagina whilst also holding the shower head in place 🤣

It's not that water itself is a problem, it's just that squirting or pulling water straight up into your vagina is a very bad idea.

When you get into a bath or a swimming pool, almost no water at all enters your vagina. It's not a big enough opening and it's not really exposed enough when it's... at rest, so to speak, for much water to enter.

If you hose out your vag with the shower, or deliberately pull water inside yourself while submerged, that removes your body's natural lubricant and healthy bacteria that prevent infection. Plus, water is only good for your body if it's able to dry. Having water just sitting in crevices making you damp is not good and causes fungal infections etc. Douching is a bad idea for that reason, even just with plain water.

My friend once lost a tampon that couldn’t be found by a nurse.

Oh - except a week later when it started smelling it was found and removed by the nurse.

I once removed my final tampon when my period finished. A week later something was feeling weird inside my vagina. There was a tampon in there curled up like a cat. (Obviously because I’d inserted one on top of the other 🤦🏼‍♀️!)

Only once have I ever forgotten a tampon. I was already the wrong side of 50 and about the last time I needed to use one, just for extra embarrassment factor.
It stank within a few days and was then very easy to remove. Even worse was the realisation that DH and I had sex while it was there and he hadn't noticed. 😬 🤢

I think she was reassuring you that if somehow it was there, they would help you. But it can't be. I wonder if you stumbled to the loo in the night without waking properly, and flushed it away.

Of course not,you could have a bath too ,that would do the same thing . Easier to have a ferret round yourself in the bath if necessary. What infection do you think is a risk?

This is one of the reasons why I don’t wear tampons anymore since my 3 kids, mine would be swallowed 🤣

Take shower head off. Insert hose and anything in there will be flushed out with the water.
Ive done this before and the tampon just flops out if its in there.
I mean it cant get past the cervix anyway so there is nowhere for it to go.

I'm disappointed that no one has mentioned the pouch of Douglas yet. There was a time on here when it was frequently referenced on threads like this. Anyway, OP I'm sure everything will be ok.

They can occasionally get wedged up behind the cervix and be difficult to find but they start to smell very quickly so you will soon know of there’s still one there!
