To book a food tour and a cooking class…

On holiday in Rome?!

I’ve been raised to be the type of person who thinks that sort of thing is an extravagance that isn’t worth the money. I’m solo travelling to Rome in November and I’m really tempted by these classes!

I basically just need the permission to do it…

We have done food tours abroad including in Italy and they were always worth the money! You get an interesting guide as well as the food, and it's totally different to just going out for a meal.

Go for it! I haven't done one in Italy but I imagine it would be good. Great idea for a solo traveller.

We did a fabulous food tour in Palermo a few years ago. We had things we'd never have found ourselves. Spleen sandwich anyone?

Go for it! I love a food tour. The guides usually have great recommendations for other places you can try, so book it early in your trip!

We’ve done food tours in several cities we’ve been to. All excellent with great guides and interesting other guests. We did one in Rome last year which was very good. It was with Eating Europe and was the Trastavere food tour at twilight. Give it a go!

I’ve unearthed an entire world of tours!

I’ve booked a cooking class, a nighttime walking tour, and a colosseum, forum and palatine hill tour!

I did pasta making in Italy and it was one of the best parts of the trip!

Benefit of solo travel is doing the things YOU want to do.

I learned how to make pad thai in Thailand.

For the colossus tour make sure it includes the actual arena floor. It’s fab

I voted yabu because you don’t require permission.

I expect a foodie holiday would help you feel more connected to a place, as it’s part of the local culture.

there is a really great food tour in Rome that goes round Trionfale market. I’ve done it a few times and highly recommend it.

We did one in Rome last year - did it on the first day as you also get a load of history and tips on good places to eat as well as trying amazing food. Well worth it,
