AIBU to expect more thorough cleaning during a weekly visit?

1.5 hours isn’t long enough for a house. A small flat perhaps.
mine comes for 5 hours every 2 weeks, and I’m not in a massive house- a small 4-bed 3 bath

I’m guessing that’s not enough time to clean properly and all she can manage in the time are a quick run round of the basics. 1.5 hours were what we used to have for teeny tiny 2 bed 1 bath flat. For our terraced house (5 bed 2.5 bath) we have 5 hours.

1.5 hours isn't exactly much time. Pay her for longer if you want more work doing.

So you could just say “I’ve done the two bathrooms already - I was wondering if you could use the time to vacuum the corners of the rooms this week?”

As others have said 1.5 hours isn't long enough for what you're asking for. When I was a cleaner 2 hours was the absolute minimum and that was a rush even in small houses

Same as the others. My cleaner does two hours some weeks and three others. She wouldn’t get much more than kitchens, bathrooms and a quick hoover done in 1.5 hours. But if you’re not happy you should say something. Sometimes I have to ask mine to do extra little things she may not have noticed.

I recently spent 2.5 hours cleaning a completely empty house. 1.5 hours for a house with stuff in doesn't sound like very long unless it's pretty small.

If you want her to do things she isn't already doing, you probably need to pay her for more time. For context, I have a weekly cleaner and it takes her three hours to do the kitchen, the bathrooms (two and a loo) and wash all the hard floors and vacuum all the carpets, bar my office because I am in it when she is here. It's not a huge house - three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a downstairs loo. She's not slacking off. I am in the house at the same time and she works hard. Everything is cleaned well. One and a half hours isn't very long IMO for a whole house.

1.5 hours is not much at all unless your home is extremely small. That is really only enough for fairly superficial clean of kitchen/bathroom, quick go round with hoover and a quick general dust. You could maybe ask her to pay a little more attention to one area a week, but I can't imagine she's got very much spare time. I do find in general that most cleaners will just do the same thing each week unless specifically asked. Which is perhaps not completely unreasonable if they are cleaning many houses in a week and can't really be expected to keep track. It's one of the reasons why I've just given up having a cleaner after more than 15 years. When I clean myself I can be much more discerning about what needs doing when.

How big is the home? How many rooms? My cleaner is 2.5 hours a week, I’m here the whole time and she works her socks off, I ask for a deeper clean every few months on top of her usual clean, she switches rooms each time, so always main room (kitchen lounge and diner), always hallway hoover and wash, then one week she’ll do the main bathroom and the other week the separate lounge - she does a really good clean but doesn’t have time to dust bits and bobs, only on a deep clean

1.5 hours isn't long. Maybe for a tiny flat?

How big is your house. Ask yourself could you clean it in an hour and a half given the number of people and size?
