To complain that the reproductive organs have a stupid design

Just a rant, really.
I hate everything about my reproductive organs, they've given me nothing but grief. Painful periods for years and after putting up with what I was told was 'normal' I'm now looking at infertility as it transpires I have likely had endometriosis all this time. Now I despair and worry but more than that I feel ANNOYED.
I don't believe in an God or anything so I know I'm effectively shouting at the randomness of evolution/into the void but I need to get it off my chest.
WHAT EVEN ARE THE FALLOPIAN TUBES, SERIOUSLY? If they can be so easily damaged by inflammation and rendered useless WHY DEVELOP THEM. Just seems such a pointlessly complicated system for what is basically a very fundamental biological process.
Once I have children, if I ever do, I'm going to have a hysterectomy and if they let me keep my uterus this is what I'm going to do with it:

it's not even considered in Birth Centres because they are mid-wives run, and anything else need to be transferred to the nearest maternity unit!

We have created places where a woman is physically unable to access pain relief.

And someone should improve on the peridural too, it needs an updated upgrade 😂

How do you feel that epidurals could be ‘updated or upgraded’?

theneighboureatmysalad · 04/08/2026 15:57

How hard would it be to replace shitting with odorless and invisible clouds!

Bakeittillyoumakeit · 04/08/2026 15:40

It's what completely convinces me that God doesn't exist. No one would be stupid enough to purposefully design periods and reproductive organs this way. Same goes for bowels and shitting for that matter.

We did invent a perfectly brilliant thing to help there - epidural. But it’s often bafflingly rejected (and the NHS work against it on the grounds of cost).

How is not one raising an eyebrow when most movies and real life expectations have to show women give birth screaming in agony?

What other procedure would we even consider while letting the patient screaming for hours in pain?

So not only the design is shit and flawed to start with, but how are we so casual about it?

I voted YABU because the reproductive system doesn’t have a stupid design. Billions and more people have managed just fine with the ‘design’ of it. Obviously like everything ever invented it doesn’t always work unfortunately. Although yanbu to hate everything about your own reproductive organs if they are not working as they should.

Was just discussing this with my partner the other day! Who TF came up with our reproductive system, lol, were they having a laugh,..?!

Honestly if it turns out someone actually did design it I want a word with them 😂

Agree, massively over-complicated!

Octavia64 · 04/08/2026 14:59

Oh yes.

ohhhhh yes.

FadedRed · 04/08/2026 14:57

@smallgreenandsplitthreeways “female spiders are much better equipped for life” and many get to eat the male after mating. Very satisfactory outcome imho.
Funnily, I was having a similar conversation a few minutes ago about the design flaw of human teeth, and how having teeth that replaced themselves like rodents or sharks would be a great improvement on the current situation.

igelkott2026 · 04/08/2026 14:55

Agree totally. It's a real pity we are not marsupial as smallgreen said, but in the absence of that, a zip would have been useful -to get babies out easily and also to fix anything that's wrong.

And bleeding all the time (well not all the time but for several days a month for many decades) is a ridiculous thing. We can control when we go to the loo so why not that!

SadiraOfTyr · 04/08/2026 14:51

Blame becoming bipedal. Would be so much easier if we had remained quadrupeds.

smallgreenandsplitthreeways · 04/08/2026 14:49

Giving birth is even more of a fundamental flaw in biology….bloody nature should have given us a pouch (Kankaroos seem to have it so much easier) or a zip!
Can’t watch the vid. But you’re right it’s shite being female, female spiders are much better equipped for life!
