We are going on a USA holiday visiting the west coast for the first time for part of it. Family of 4 with 1 teen and a 23 yr old neuro diverse dd. I mention this specifically because she is very impulsive and once she gets an idea in her head she doesn't stop! She only passed her driving test 6 months ago but when we are in Las Vegas wants to hire a car to drive Route 66 to stay at the Grand Canyon for a few nights. Taking her sibling with her. He is 17. They both get on fantastically and have been on short breaks together before. But it's the driving that concerns me massively. She thinks it's easy but I don't agree. I think it's way too much responsibility, anything could go wrong and the drive each way is 5.5 hours long. I want to visit the closest side of it and do the trip in a day but she won't hear of it and says as she's 23 I can't stop her. She also has an online friendship with an American who is a few years older. Chatted on face time but never met him in person. She says he is going to meet her and they will share the driving. This doesn't make me feel any better! Does this all sound mad or should I let her plan her part of it her way? We will go for nearly 4 weeks and already have some days separated/will fly to separate states.
