To think Ruthie Henshall has done this in bad taste?

She's been on BBC Breakfast this morning talking about her relationship with Prince Edward and how she's written a memoir about her experiences.

Prince Edward is now with Sophie obviously, who he's been with for years. Ruthie did say that the book wasn't a 'kiss and tell', but really?

Desperate for money is what I thought when I heard about it.

Ewwww! It might put paid to the ‘beard’ rumours, at least 😂

EstherGreenwood63 · 04/08/2026 19:37

Yeah you never know Edward might be feeling quite the stud with the revelations...🤔

Is this your first day on the planet?

😂😂
I can't remember the name of her ex husband, but Douglas is married to a woman from Croatia.
Also, he's Scottish and she's not, so I didn't think they were siblings. Anyway, he doesn't have a sister and she doesn't have a brother.

Ruthie Henshall was married to Tim Howar - the lead singer in Mike and the Mechanics. By all accounts she was a very talented West End musical theatre star - I only saw her once (as the ballet teacher in Billy Elliott) but I’ve been aware of her for years as we have various mutual connections. She founded a musical theatre company in Bury St Edmunds a few years ago - probably because the theatre roles are drying up - she’s about 60 I think. I was disappointed that she’d sunk so low as to write this book - which I haven’t read - but at least she has been respectful and isn’t really dishing dirt.

She spoke about her relationship with Prince Edward years ago when she was in IACGMOOH. God knows why, but I suppose if hundreds of 'entertainers' are better looking, younger and most importantly, more talented, she clutches at straws to keep relevant.

Andrew Lloyd Webber was less than impressed when Sarah Brightman announce to the world he had a big willy. 😁

FML, some excerpts of this have popped up on my Ig page now. I thought it was a spoof AI pisstake but a quick Google had shown that they are real. Whoever first mentioned Ruthie's lack of class was bang on the money.I

We quickly became friends, and although it was strictly platonic at first we soon fell in love. Always considerate, Edward asked me to be patient about sleeping together and later asked to keep our relationship private.
The secrecy could be fun. I remember a Sunday brunch at Kensington Roof Gardens, a mixer for all the Really Useful performers. He was representing the company. I purposefully wore no knickers, so I could spend the whole time walking around the party and then coming back to him, leaving him under no illusion about what I was doing – trying to tempt him into bed. And not to sleep. I was now spending most weekends with him. When we finally made love, in January 1989, it happened very naturally.

You know when you watch those romantic chick flicks and the guy holds the girl's face and gently kisses her. He did that! I was in my own movie. He undressed me and took me to his bed and we made love for the first time. He was romantic and gentle and definitely NOT GAY! And he definitely had experience. Later, I'd often shag him into oblivion, leaving him bleary-eyed when he had to get up early the next day.

Oof. Bad Sex In Non-fiction award, right there! 😉
"How very unlike the homelife of our dear quee...oh. 😂

I think when your ex girlfriend from 30 years ago, unprompted suddenly shouts ' HES DEFINITELY NOT GAY!!!' all it will do is resurrect rumours about someone hardly anyone has given a second thought about, never mind caring if they were gay or not!

BIossomtoes · 05/08/2026 09:40

After 27 years of marriage and two kids without a whisper of rumour? Unlikely. We all know how effective a prurient press is at discovering these things.

Well yes, so why bring it up unprompted. She's saying 'My ex boyfriend isn't gay' when no one knew or cared if he was gay in the first place. The best thing about him is his wife. He is a man with little of interest about him who is so far down the LoS he hardly matters.

Well, she's trying to sell a book, so it's all the chorusgirl going to Buckingham Palace with no knickers on and much all-night royal rogering etc etc.
