To think Ruthie Henshall has done this in bad taste?

She's been on BBC Breakfast this morning talking about her relationship with Prince Edward and how she's written a memoir about her experiences.

Prince Edward is now with Sophie obviously, who he's been with for years. Ruthie did say that the book wasn't a 'kiss and tell', but really?

In really poor taste. She must be skint.

carkerpartridge · 03/08/2026 11:32

When she was on BBC this morning, the interviewer said that she could turn her stories into a musical. RH replied in a jokey way that it could be a Netflix series . I don't think she was joking. She seems so desperate.

WhyamIinahandcartandwherearewegoing · 03/08/2026 11:26

She still banging on about this? Talk about desperate, it’s all a bit cringe.

I read the excerpts jn the Daily Mail. It was quite racy.
Who knew little old Eddie was such a love machine!! 🥰😅

I don't think you can ever tell who's a love machine...

One thing is for sure, he definitely upgraded when he married Sophie. Apparently the Queen saw her as a second daughter, and the Queen was a good judge of character.
I wouldn't go that far, after what we know about her enabling of Andrew and her fondness for Fergie!

And Diana was insanely jealous of HM's cordial relationship with Sophie 😉

TonTonMacoute · 03/08/2026 11:23

It smacks of desperation and I think people will think less of her for doing this. I certainly do. He has a family and he cannot respond.

Wonder if she was holding out for an MBE and this is some kind of revenge for never getting one.

Lomonald · 03/08/2026 11:14

I don't think she has brought out her book as a distraction for the RF and Andrew.

NewspaperTaxis · 03/08/2026 11:10

Probably overthinking but seems to me this story is highly convenient for the Royal Family as it distracts from the Andrew M-Windsor thing - well, have we read anything about that in the last few months? State organisations are very big on the 'create a new thing so that awful thing is not the latest thing' angle, to push bad new back down the line and into the past.

Liz Truss is trying to do that too, making a lot of noise so her crashing the economy for a generation is not the 'latest thing' about her.

Desperatelyseekinglazysusan · 03/08/2026 11:01

I thought she had just written one story about this in her autobiography until I saw that it's the title of her book! It is in horrible taste. Who cares? She also seems to spend a lot of time telling people that someone who has been married for 30 years and has an adult child isn't gay?! (Didnt Sophie say something similar?) Why would you do that.

That would be like me giving a shit about whoever DP dated when he was 17 - and them thinking that it's anything to be interested in.

Culpeper · 03/08/2026 10:47

I think her book’s unlikely to sell as she’s not exactly famous, so there will be little interest. So it’s obviously an attempt to get some interest in the book by bigging up the fact she dated Prince Edward. But he’s utterly blah, with virtually zero public interest, so I can’t see it improving her sales.

As far as I know, there’s nothing in it remotely likely to embarrass him.

I guess if you are interested in musical theatre and know of her you might pick up an autobiography, but they are obviously going in this direction to sell it, i don't think people are that interested in Prince Edward either.

sunsettosunrise · 03/08/2026 10:49

I read some of it in the daily Mail until my stomach starting churning, she said they shagged all night and that she took her knickers off to imply she wanted sex, denying he was gay etc.

I mean he is a married man, and has been for about 30 years with two adult children. Him and Sophie have always maintained their privacy and kept a low profile so I really feel for them, especially Sophie having these intimate details splashed across the news.

One thing is for sure, he definitely upgraded when he married Sophie. Apparently the Queen saw her as a second daughter, and the Queen was a good judge of character.

I thought she had more class than that, but no. 😏
Oh, Ruthie. How disappointing.
She must be short of work. It's all about the money.

Lomonald · 03/08/2026 10:41

I just remembered something else she said, that Prince Edward might like to read it for nostalgia 😳 this thread has given me cringe flashbacks 😂

NCForOneNightOnly · 03/08/2026 10:40

I suppose once Susan Boyle has stolen your musical thunder work gets a bit harder to find.

CoffeeCantata · 03/08/2026 10:36

I’m old fashioned. Sleep with whom you like but we don’t need to hear the gory details.

Why anyone imagines their bedroom exploits described in squelchy detail are pleasant to read about baffles me.

OvernightBloats · 03/08/2026 10:29

I saw the interview on BBC breakfast this morning. There was an obvious contradiction when she was talking about her awards - she said she didn't want to show off!

If she doesn't want to show off, why is she dining out on her involvement with Prince Edward for all its worth?! The interview revolved around her fleeting association with the Royal Family. Now she has monetised it by writing a book.

It did seem in poor taste.

Lomonald · 03/08/2026 10:20

She said on This Morning people they knew thought he was "A friend of Dorothy" (gay) and she put them straight, Classy !

Ah her "i shagged a prince" book tour, she was on This Morning a few weeks ago i saw she was on Bbc Breakfast and turned it over, she was on I'm a celeb during covid in Wales, she was touting her "i shagged a prince" story there she must have been after a book deal.

Gassylady · 03/08/2026 09:26

There was a piece in one of the Sunday newspaper magazines a few weeks ago “my affair with Prince Edward” but actually neither of them was married or in another long term relationship. So in fact it should have been “Prince Edward was my boyfriend” Not nearly so exciting 🤦🏼‍♀️

Exactly this

rainbowstardrops · 03/08/2026 09:32

I saw her promoting the book on This Morning a week or two ago and I thought then how tasteless it was. I mean, who gives a shit?!
