AIBU to think Australia should not have competed in the Commonwealth Games?

Australia shouldn't have taken part in the Commonwealth games after they refused to hold the event.

they refused as it's so expensive to host.
I think the games should just end to be honest, we're long past the days of the empire and old colonies bowing down to the King. Or Queen

I can't agree.

The politicians / budget holders decided they couldn't afford to host the games, not the athletes. In some sports - most topically netball - this is the biggest showcase for those athletes. It would be completely unfair on them to have not been allowed to compete , but would also have made the Games a much poorer experience without the Aussies there.
