AIBU to think parents chasing each other round Morrisons is odd?

I just saw a 30-something couple chasing each other around Morrisons whilst their young kids stood watching and giggling. AIBU to think this is mad?

Im a big fan of having fun, and being daft (I play more as a middle aged woman than I did as a kid 😁) but I think running round a supermarket is probably not the best choice. Too many potential hazards.

What’s puzzling about two adults having a laugh? It sounds like they were having a bit of a silly moment, flirting & making their children laugh. If I saw something like that I’d think they were a happy family, not sneer.

Team supermarket chase/tig/hide and seek/peekaboo.

It's bad enough when you have to dodge children charging around in a shop. I don't want to have to look out for full grown adults too. A supermarket isn't a bloody playground.

Bingo! I was waiting for that unoriginal lazy response that doesn't make sense. A fun sponge would soak up all the fun, so they'd be fun, fun, fun!

Me too. I would have smiled and thought it was lovely they were entertaining their kids.

But then, I do find I generally have a smile on my face when most people around me look like they are attending a funeral.

Yes really 🤣 it’s in one of the most deprived areas in the country.

Ive witnessed a fist fight in there, multiple shop lifters being chased and tackled by security, teens riding through on their bikes. We have permanent security there. A young homeless lad who’s always outside asking for change. It was broken into one night where youths smashed all the windows and made the local news.

It honestly makes me laugh when the “quaint naice” mumsnetters are so shocked about what happens in run down areas.

I pity the staff who have to work there. It must be horrendous for them.
At one point I worked in a city centre Sainsbury's and we used to get some strange customers in. We had a security guard so I didn't feel unsafe in the shop. But
I didn't like working until 10p.m though and having to get the bus home from the city centre at that time of night.

Why?

I always go with DP to the supermarket. We like different foods and are interested in different offers/different items on the dead and dying shelf. God forbid we enjoy an activity together as a couple considering we both work a lot - so the supermarket is one of the only times we can be together Hmm

When did the supermarket become the equivalent of a hobby or a restaurant, both of which are fun.

I don’t get why couples and families go together either. There are a million more interesting and fun ways to spend time together.

Really? The customers I see going in to the Aldi and the Lidl in our next town certainly don't look as though they up for fist fights - generally families and older couples.

I expect every supermarket gets shoplifters. Sainsbury's certainly does. And I have seen children in there with these shoes that have wheels in their heels, but not on bikes thank goodness

I hate sipermarkets in general. Its bad enough when kids chase about in shops. Adults would tip me over the edge

Un-medicated-me would probably punch them in the face (not really, but would probably say FFS loudly)

I mean, it’s a chore. Surely just one of you does it whilst the other does something equally domestically useful elsewhere.

Yup drives me mad when the “spare” person just stands there blocking the aisle with the trolley.
