Aibu to have reported the dustbin lorry to the council?

All I know is, if I parked across a stranger's drive I wouldn't be surprised if they were pissed off. It's shitty.

Of the two, which is more likely do you think? The bin men who are the colleagues of the neighbour who hates her and who could have parked elsewhere, or keeping chickens which others in the neighbourhood were also doing?

So what if it's not massive? They dumped their stupid big truck across her drive for badness, it's shitty behaviour no matter how you look at it.

I think OP has brought more trouble on herself…. like the chickens and the plants growing on the neighbours side.

Neighbourly relations are not going to improve are they! It was reported as retaliation, looking at last update by OP. That most is a mile away from the first post where they “annoy each other”.

They made trouble for themselves by parking across someone's drive which is an actual offence. It's on them.

they were next door, they are their friends so by default she wanted to cause trouble for them. I tho k you’d notice a bin lorry next door. If they were down the road and in someone else’s home, then yes it would’ve been a non issue.

No you wasn’t petty you were out and out nasty. You have potentially put their jobs at risk because they are friends with your neighbour who you don’t like. Good job I’m not your neighbour because I’d be making your life very miserable from now on.

I'd be surprised if she even noticed if they were parked down the street, although she'd need to confirm that herself. Parked across her drive is harder to ignore.

Oh I think a complaint still would’ve gone in, because they shouldn’t have been on a break then! Abd after all OP would be saving the council tax payers money!

That's not the point though is it, if they hadn't blocked someone's drive no one would be any the wiser.

Are you seriously saying you've never taken an extra break? Or had 10 minutes when you shouldn't? I think most people have.

And if they hadn't be doing anything wrong by parking in front of her house in the first place then they would have nothing to worry about. She did not report them for being on an unauthorised break, her husband reported them for blocking their drive, which is a fair shout. If they were taking an unauthorised break, all the more reason they should have parked considerately. Not the OPs fault

If the dustbin men hadn't been doing something wrong in the first place, then they couldn't have been "weaponised" could they. and I would like to point out that this dustbin man is the neighbour who started it all and is the problem, the issue is that the OP is now putting boundaries in place which is the right thing to do.

I don't get why people are blaming the OP here when the neighbours are the aggressors.

But I bet she wouldn't have complained if she got on with her neighbour. It's just pathetic. OP said she did because she doesn't like her neighbour but her complaining didn't affect the neighbour.
Also sounds like the tracker wasn't working as you can't just disconnect them. Bin men can take their lunch break when they want (well I assume they can)so we don't know if it was an unauthorized break.

Uuuugh as someone who works with the council, youd be surprised how often we are weaponised against neighbour disputes. Your neighbour won't get in trouble as he wasnt working, all youve done is potentially get the hard worked on shift bin workers disciplined for having a sneaky cup of tea for your own personal agenda against your neighbour. Grim and petty.

When I lived in a previous house, our next door neighbour wasn’t too chuffed about a van being parked outside his house, a friend of my daughter. He phoned the number on the side of the van and reported him for not being at work! 😳

No because they blocked her drive which was unreasonable, if they had to block anyones (and basically they could have found a proper parking spot and used their legs), it should have been the people they were visiting.

The bin men decided to tke an unauthorised tea break - their choice the OP did not know this. They weren't discreet, they chose to block an innocent third parties drive when they could have used their legs and found a lawful parking spot elsewhere or, here's a thought, parked in front of the drive of the house they were visiting! They did not, they were thoughtless and inconsiderate and more importantly not exactly going under the radar for the break.

So what if the OP had some home and couldn't get in her drive, what did you expect her to do, run around the neighbourhood trying to find out where they were?

What gets me is that people are framing it that she was unreasonable for not speaking to them, and not the right way which is why they were so unreasonable by parking across her drive in the first place???

It sounds to me like the OP has tried to be conciliatory in the past and it has got her nowhere, as it continued so she needs to set boundaries. People who throw stones (the neighbours) shouldn't live in glass houses and they can either learn from their mistake or sadly continue,

True, but the driver for the complaint was the neighbour not the fact they were parked over the drive,

How big are these garden ? So much in them it’s sounds like you are living at Chatsworth.

Dependent on the size of the gardens, I wouldn’t like a chicken coop next door - I would be worried about it attracting rats (again caveat being I don’t know the make up of the garden)

Your trees dropping leaves in their side - I think you probably should have trimmed it back, or cleaned the leaves up.

She has said she wasn’t going out.
Yes it was rude of the binmen.
She could have just asked them to move.
One of the binmen lives nest door, and on the other side is the father of one of the binmen.
Reporting them to the council will aggravate neighbours on both sides, and make OPs life even more difficult
