To be a bit cheesed off by this window display?

Saw this on the high road today. My daughter asked what it meant bless her. The rest of the display on the other side included cross dressing obscene mannequins who had large breasts and moustaches etc. This was a charity shop that supports homelessness.

Only 1%? They make a LOT of fucking noise for 1%.
Look, do what you want behind closed doors, I couldn't care less.

Bullshit! I absolutely loathe the women here who parade this transphobia and find them sickening. Libs of tiktok, the online influencer whose patter is often retailed here, is responsible for bomb threats and death threats to the medical staff at our local children’s hospital. I personally know parents of trans teens who have had to flee to safer states here in the US. The violence that is done in the name of “adult female” is very real and very disgusting to me. So no: I would not by choice associate with any one of you but again I wouldn’t deny any of you a place to piss.

Let me guess a man straight from Reddit.

Men can’t and never will be able to become women, hope this helps you.

Nice bit of virtue signalling from the charity shop but seems quite meaningless. Bless it and walk on

I haven’t looked at the stats but the reason you will see more cis than trans people homeless is because there are more cis people. But if you are trans you are more likely to be discriminated against (as evidenced by this very thread) and therefor much more likely to be kicked out of home or refused tenancies etc.

people’s hate towards trans people is really upsetting

There are many people (like me) who do not hate trans people but find certain elements offensive, for example the picture of the breast scars as i mentioned in an earlier post. I have concerns that discussions are shut down by transphobic claims when those discussions are about wellbeing, for example under 18s taking medication. I also dislike the narrow minded approach to gender, assuming a woman who likes short hear and boyish clothing should transition, because she shouldn't be free to be a woman who likes short hair and boyish clothes.. I also find the word cis to be offensive, unless used in context. In fairness you used it in context to distinguish between groups in a discussion about trans. But when it is used in a general way about a woman it is offensive to me. I am not defined by my distinctiveness from a tiny minority, I am a woman and should be called a woman.

There are not a lot of trans people in the world—perhaps one percent—but they come from every race and class. Would it lessen your wild antipathy to realize that there are people all over the world trying to live their lives, sometimes in great danger, rather than imagining some threatening middle class bloke trying to use your bathroom?

This mumsnet fantasy hate object is so, do, strange to me. You circle around and comfort each other that everyone hates and fears trans people because we all see them as privileged white blokes who for some strange reason are stealing from us our precious women’s privileges.

I don’t see this at all. I don’t know anyone who does. This frightened, angry, rigid, inhumane approach to random strangers who have nothing to do with you just strikes me as weird.

Jesus get out and try to live life. If you don’t like someone just move on. I wouldn’t feel safe sharing a bathroom or a women’s group with half of you and I am an OG woman born of woman feminist. But I don’t contest your self identification as a woman or your right to use a bathroom. Who cares?

Do you really imagine that there are no women who need and deserve spaces free of men? What a sheltered life you must lead.

And I myself would not want my young daughter changing in the women’s changing room with some blokes bollocks dangling about while he puts his bikini on. Women deserve not to even have to consider the possibility let alone have to deal with it. And yes it happens just not to you therefore you will no doubt deny it.

You got "inside" from:

Yes? On the other side of the display? Kind of like trans-display I suppose.

So does Shelter or Crisis or whatever run shelters for homeless people, and are they mixed sex?

I presume you were too outraged to get photos of the "obscene" window.

Unless I'm missing something, or unless you just think any man wearing anything even slightly feminine is "obscene"?

in your final paragraph you're just being silly. You would not feel fear if you were in a public toilet with a woman wearing an adult human female tshirt or whatever. That's insulting to women who do feel the fight or flight response kicking in when a man appears in a space where they are vulnerable. Numbers of actual assaults by "terfs" in public toilets? 0. Numbers by men, whether trans or pretending to be or simply utilising the reluctance women now have to challenge a man in the toilets? I can think of 2 in the small town next to me. And a quick google will give a long list.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 30/07/2026 13:03

pikkumyy77 · 30/07/2026 13:01

Or could it be that trans people (male ones) identify as perpetual victims and aren’t actually on the streets. Having that much time to navel gaze and decide you are the opposite sex (when you aren’t) is largely a middle class privilege, quite narcissistic and self centred in most cases. Evident in their demands to infiltrate and destroy women’s spaces and privacy from them. Doubt many actual homeless blokes have the time for that.

I couldn't care less about the window display per se but I have a big issue with the picture of the breast removal scar, is that actually what I'm seeing? I couldn't zoom in. That made me stop in my tracks and think what the hell. Unless I've misinterpreted it, i think this is very wrong and should be removed. Anything that promotes mutilation of the body through surgery for non medical reasons is morally wrong IMO and is not appropriate for a high street window display.

I walked past my local charity shop a few weeks ago and they had a display for the world cup with football shirts and flags etc- I don't like football so I was pretty cheesed off.

Not quite the same as promoting the removal of the healthy breasts of young women though.

Are you reporting the posts you think are transphobic? Mumsnet will delete.

AlwaysExtraHot · 30/07/2026 12:55

People are being disingenuous about the mannequins with breasts and facial hair possibly just being women with facial hair/large feet etc.
Given the added context of the signs, do you really think that's the likely explanation?
And whatever they think, biology IS binary. However a woman looks or presents, or a man looks or presents, they are one or the other.

I'd definitely avoid shopping in there. And I love a charity shop.

hydriotaphia · 30/07/2026 12:54

What on earth is obscene about breasts and a moustache? Be gender critical if you like (as long as you respect others have different views as we all must) but saying it is obscene for a woman to have facial hair is pretty horrible. Like very many cis women I have dark hairs on my chin and upper lip - I choose to remove the hairs but this is purely an aesthetic choice and I do not believe there would be anything obscene if I let them grow and had a short beard/moustache.

Is this purposely baiting? Would you actually say this to someone without hiding behind a keyboard? Do you honestly, actually, have such little empathy for other human beings?

Yes I bloody would im tired of this competitive blood sport i didnt sign up for

I am 51 years old and im tired of being screamed at by men demanding I share my toilets my tampons my hormones my rape crisis centres my history my jobs ffs female welfare officer jobs given to men who decide that men need to be centered in menopause groups and women support this so men can "learn" but instead it becomes a cess pool of men complaining about the lack of sex but its mandatory so you have to attend and the complaining began they won't talk to us make them talk to us! So the company shuts it down boom support network gone now its homelessness sure sure what fucking ever

Fatigue is so real
