The development of genetic, hormonal and anatomical sex characteristics is not binary in any way.

However, there are frequent chromosomal variations ie the platypus which has a complex 5 pair chromosome system.

In humans we see non binary development which shows us that physical anatomy is not a flip switch.

Gender, which is not biology as it is a social construct, is not the same as sex which is the biological aspect and non binary.

We see adverts for pepsi or mcdonalds or whatever else every single day and yet we aren't all walking around basing our lives around these.

People existing changes absolutely nothing about your life, those people being able to be open and free still changes absolutely nothing about your life.

The only way it will impact you is if you are a busy body who has to make everyone elses lives their business, is that how you are?

I'm an avid charity shopper but I'd roll my eyes and walk on by. They're supposed to be attracting customers, not putting them off.

I mean the stats on trans homelessness quoted upthread are utterly meaningless given that they’re self-identifying as having been homeless at some point in their lives and they’re also self identifying as something they’re not so who’s to say what the truth is? 🤔 All the trans people I’ve ever met were middle class and wouldn’t really understand if you tried to explain that their “lived experience” staying on a pal’s cosy sofa in a place with central heating and electricity to save a few quid during the uni break wasn’t the same as someone sleeping on the streets with no end in sight or means of escape.

This is what people are missing, critical thinking.

It isn't that more of the people who are homeless are trans as opposed to cis, it is that the percentage of trans people homeless compared to cis is higher.

The numbers add up when you think about it correctly in correlation rather than 'omg I see more cis people therefore thats the answer'.

I am anti self I.D etc, but that statement is actually correct. Biology was never binary. Biology matters, sex matters. Gender is a social construct. Those mannequins don't have genitals. They can wear what they want.

I haven’t looked at the stats but the reason you will see more cis than trans people homeless is because there are more cis people. But if you are trans you are more likely to be discriminated against (as evidenced by this very thread) and therefor much more likely to be kicked out of home or refused tenancies etc.

Well biology isn't binary, biological sex and gender are too different things.

I really don't see the issue with this.

Plenty of women with breasts grow facial hair, just society has told us we should get rid of it and makes us embarrassed to have it.

In addition, people have cross dressed for hundreds of years, no one thinks twice about it in the panto.

I think you could have used this as a teaching moment to your child that we accept people how they are and for who they want to be, because it has absolutely no impact on our lives but it means they get to live happy ones.

I’d be concerned that, like many other charities, this organisation was diverting money legally mandated to go elsewhere to trans causes. It would certainly discourage me from donating.

This. I'd like to see the official stats on that. I see lots of homeless people, I've not seen one trans homeless person.
