To slow cook two ribeye steaks?

I ordered two rump steaks from Sainsbury’s this weekend. My plan was to slow cook them. Nothing fancy, just the cheap £3 steaks. I get four meals out of it, I slow cook it with stock and tomatoes and it’s gorgeous.

For some reason Sainsbury’s have substituted them for two of their premium ribeye steaks. I don’t eat steak in the traditional way - a slab of fried beef doesn’t appeal to me at all, but I love it slow cooked.

AIBU to still fry them up and slow cook them? It feels like a bit of a waste of such a premium cut of meat, but I think it would be more wasteful to not use it!

My friend made chilli with sirloin the other day as that’s all she had. Cooked it for less time and it was lovely. Go for it but don’t cook it to death. Personally I’d fry it slice it and serve as a Thai salad….

Could you not slice it up very thinly and use it for tacos or fajitas? You can’t braise it or slow cook, it’ll be a sad piece of jerky.

What else can I do with them?! I definitely won’t eat them as normal steaks. I can’t eat steak, and even if I did, my plan was four meals out of the meat not two!

It’s your steak. You can do whatever you like with it. But I would weep to be part of your household and have to bear witness to such a travesty.

Cook it how you would enjoy to eat it. That’s never a waste.

This is a truly terrible idea.

It would be a waste imo!

This is kind of how I feel, but I’m not a fan of steak so I think it would go to waste otherwise!
