Letter from HA about loud music?

Don't play music in the garden, or if you do, wear earphones. Other people have different tastes in music and you are inflicting yours in everybody rlse. Music outside means that nobody else is able to enjoy some peace and quiet outdoors.

It’s funny because it’s only because you are a HA tenant. Any other type of tenant you wouldn’t have gotten a letter off your landlord with zero proof they would have had to report you to the account council noise department.

Same. My housing officer told me she's talked to next door about the music and told him multiple times to move his speakers from my wall which I think he's done afer almost 2 years of complaining including the complaint that he woke me up at 1am and 4am with loud music

Well this thread has certainly provided an insight into the mindset of the people who behave in this way. Completely self-absorbed and utterly unaware of the impact their behaviour has on other people. It’s the same with the people who listen to their music on public transport without using earphones.

They are. In peace and not having to listen to someone else's choice of music.
Headphones mean you can enjoy yours and everyone else can enjoy theirs.

Most folk who play loud music in their back gardens listen to utter shite. Trance or techno pi*h. So it's of no surprise that your NDN didn't approach you. They would have no idea about your reaction.

This. People who are inconsiderate enough to play music loud enough to annoy their neighbours are rarely reasonable when asked to turn it off.

Having consideration for your neighbours should be your main concern not what’s on your housing record! The HA can also throw you out for antisocial behaviour so I would take it more seriously too!

Why does anyone think playing music in a garden is ok, the general lack of care for others these days is maddening. Just because you can doesn’t mean you should, if you have neighbours then consider them, the it’s my garden I’ll do as I like attitude is so selfish.

Agree. We are HA, had similar with a neighbour. Our HA does not just write random one off letters. There would have been repeated and multiple complaints first, the letter is just the first warning.

Maybe knock on and politely ask and apologise. No need for ears or anything like that. I’d just make peace and apologise. Call the HA and explain you didn’t realise and have sorted it mutually and keep the bloody music down ;)

Clearly was a pain to possibly multiple people. Perhaps you came across as unnapprociable while you were being noisy?

We had it for six years and like you have issues with noise.

Ive lived next to people like you - it ruined my life and even 3 years after they've moved I have extreme anxiety about noise. The Dr's think I have PTSD with how severe my reactions are.

Behave like a normal human being and you won't get letters from the HA.
They're your neighbours not your mum asking you to turn that down when you were a teen.

God I’d actually never play music in my garden at all now I live somewhere with neighbours. Even quietly! And offensive lyrics?! 🤯

Surely you realised you were annoying your neighbours? I can’t see how you didn’t realise how antisocial it was.

We have an HA property behind us and had a music issue, funnily enough loud and offensive lyrics and I went straight to the HA about it and opened an ASB case.

I wasn’t worried about asking them direct to turn it down and would have, if the house was owned by them. As they were HA tenants, it meant that if they didn’t shut up, I would complain again and there was a history of complaints logged on the Housing Management System against them.

I think you'll find the primary issue here is the offensive lyrics, as well as thr volume. You absolutely shouldn't be playing music with offensive lyrics audible outside, and if you were my neighbour I'd be furious.

Yep our I overheard our neighbour says she plays music outside at times to the housing people after a complaint

She actually played it really loud from value 8 in the morning till midnight. Luckly our bedrooms are on the other side of the house to her back garden. But I should imagine she drove the other neighbours joined on and those at the back mad. No idea who made the complaint but she did not stop and was evicted about a month ago.

Anyone who plays music in their garden is unlikely to be the sort of person who has any regard for a request via a WhatsApp or FB Group.

I'd have gone straight to the HA as well.
