I know you don’t see it, @sunshinesuzey - but the fact that so many people on here have read your posts as clear victim blaming should makes you stop and consider. The way you are saying things, the words and phrasing you are using, DO look like victim blaming, even if that is not your intent.

Why should i do what you say? What/who gives you the right to tell others what they should do?

Nope, I do not agree at all that the victims of these crimes should be held accountable. That’s like saying a rape victim should be held accountable for wearing a mini skirt or walking home alone at night.

It’s a good idea to take precautions as far as possible and not leave drinks unattended, but it only takes a momentary distraction. There are videos online demonstrating how easy it is to slip something into a drink that someone is holding if you care to look them up.

In the town next to me there were a few girls who were injected in nightclubs. It was horrific, some of them were very unwell.

I had my drink spiked while with friends. I left my drink at the table to go to the loo, only time I wasnt right in front of it. It was obviously a "friend" that did it. Luckily I didnt finish it all as I had to catch a bus or God know what state I would have been in. It was terrifying, I was completely disorientated and my heart was beating out of my chest. I got lost in the city on the way to find the bus and wandered the streets for ages.

this is what it detects, i agree we may never have a product that detects 100% of drugs and that women should still be alert, but im guessing they’ve started with the most common/widely available drugs used.

Narxcup detects common chemical submission drugs, specifically targeting GHB (liquid ecstasy), burundanga (scopolamine), MDMA, and barbiturate derivatives.

I haven't changed my opinion and still support a degree of personal accountability.

The only problem with these things is that none of them detect all possible drugs, many only detect the classic ‘date rape’ drugs but it’s quite common for people to use any random recreational drug they have on them. I’m sure it’s better than nothing but I wouldn’t want people to live in a false sense of security and lower their guard because they are using products like this.

It’s a little cube that you put in your drink. if it detects something, it changes colour and congeals the drink. if not, you can just keep drinking.

i think it’s better than the strips because you can turn your eye away from the drink and don’t have to keep testing.

Why are you so determined to argue that any action to prevent or investigate these crimes is impossible?

If it isn't impossible, then why isn't it happening ?
Why aren't people writing to their MPs, their local Police and Crime Commissioner?
Why aren't people protesting outside the Home Office?
Why is there no political will to address this?

It's already been explained to you that it's a licensing condition in many areas. It also helps stop other crimes such as staff skimming from the tills, or robbery - both of which cost the business money.
