Don't see a problem, lots of people quote things. Obviously if he argued and pushed to get his way that wouldn't have been ok, but a jokey text is normal.

I think this all the time when people get offended at things their partner says. They wouldn't last a minute in our house 😀

I don’t like the film, but I’d still appreciate him making a stupid joke/quote especially because 9am is not an early start. OP says she made it quite a point that she had an early work meeting… at 9am. I’d send that sort of stupid quote as a tongue in cheek response to the OP being so weird about 9am being “such an early start.”

If he left in time and you were both happy with the sex then it was a joke. I guess as it was a quote it doesn't have to make a lot of sense, it should have been cornflakes and afters. Surely he would have been looking for something more than a wank.

actually, he gave you the polite version anyway (quote starts with “ Jesus, I…”). Looks like quite a good film. If it weren’t a film quote, it would be a bad text.

what I’ll say is I once had a (v handsome) boyfriend I found thick and annoying. if he said this to me, it’d be added to his thick and annoying list. That boyfriend only lasted about a month, he was too annoying and gave me the ick.

If someone I really liked said this, I’d probably be a bit taken aback, but then find it interesting once I’d seen it was a film quote. In fact, I want to watch this film now.

And they say romance is dead. Personally I don't like 'lad' humour. It's generally low-brow, sexist and crude, but obviously others do as indicated by other posters, so it's more a matter of compatibility. Have you only just noticed his type of humour?

I would not be amused by this so I would be looking at other areas and aspects of the relationship. If all is well then I would put it down to us having very different ideas of what constitutes humour.

One or other of us must have made a joke first early on and the other laughed so we carried on. For what it’s worth I couldn’t have carried on with someone who had no sense of humour and neither could DH as he’d been there with his ex wife and was miserable (other things too not just the lack of laughing). It’s absolutely fine for the op to not like humour but if the partner is having to hide his humour then that doesn’t make a great relationship in my view.

I think the answer op is some of us would be, some wouldn't. Both reactions are apparently within the bounds of normality, but you and your BF seem to land in different groups from each other.
