AIBU to be this excited about our holiday next week?

I’m fizzing with excitement about our upcoming holiday. It’s the first time I’ve been abroad in 13 years and the first time I will take our children (12 and 8) on an airplane!!
Dh says it’s too early to be excited but we go next Friday, so for me it feels very soon!
My mum also thinks I’m being a bit silly because she always has a holiday, in fact several a year like this but this is my first time doing All Inclusive!
I know there’s still like 6 days of work (and it will be HEAVY for me) but I can’t help it, I also have a baby shower I’m going to on Friday and I’m just so excited and happy!!

OP this is amazing, how exciting for you all! I’m prob a bit like your DH due to anxiety I struggle to get excited! Really until I’m literally through security at the airport lol!

In fairness we have been away twice this year already - at Easter we went to Haven and in May we went away to a different caravan site. Likely will go away for October or Christmas too (cheap caravan sites in wales or borrow a friends caravan) but this is a proper, honest to goodness holiday holiday where I can properly relax and not have to worry about cooking and washing up and will the knife be sharp enough.

I love that you’re excited. Too many people take for granted and are downright miserable over the privilege of going on a holiday - to be able to afford it, to have loved ones to enjoy it with and to be in good enough health to travel and experience these things.
Keep being excited, I’ll bet your family also love that you’re excited it makes them feel the excitement too.

Have an amazing time 😊. It's definitely not too early to get excited, I would be exactly the same as I haven't been abroad for 14 years either and my younger two children haven't been on a plane before (they are very similar ages to yours).

Enjoy the excitement of the build up to holiday and have a wonderful time when you are there

Anticipation massively increases the value of a holiday for me. My DH is the sort to try and book the week before, but I love all the planning and thinking about it for months before hand. Hate being too busy before I go to get excited.

The week before a holiday is the best for getting excited, you still have it to look forward to but don’t have too long to wait. You be as excited as you want. Have a fantastic time!!

Enjoy!! Dp and I do excited countdowns for holidays at least a year ahead 🤪 so next Friday is v soon!

Have a fab time! We go away Saturday, its taken me a year of hard work to afford, and I intend to enjoy every minute! 😊🎉

I'll never not be excited by travel or holidays.
I got so excited about our up and coming camping holiday that I'd got it in my head we were going a week earlier than we are 😭😭😭
An extra week to add to my count down!

We also create a family theme tune for each holiday. Note my kids are now adults and we don't have every holiday together but will help each other create a song.

Love this thread. Have a great time OP. I go on plenty of holidays and get excited for each and every one, even the packing. I think holidays are a privilege and I'm grateful I'm able to go on them.

Why wouldn’t you be excited? You deserve to be.

I am fortunate enough to travel abroad multiple times a year (minimum 5 trips) and get excited (sometimes even jumping up and down/squealing/skipping lol) every time.
