AIBU to think Andy Burnham might call a general election soon?

To think Andy Burnham will call a general election before Christmas? Yes it would be a massive roll of the dice but,

Reform - don't have the numbers for a GE and there's all frog faces suspicious money bringing him a lot of heat.

Torys - kemi doesn't have a lot of depth, I feel and she hasn't changed much in the polls. She's good at the dispatch box but let's face it anyone could stand up and insult the other side.

By calling a GE Andy would have his own mandate and break the deadlock of the back benchers.

Not being unreasonable = he needs to call a GE

Your being unreasonable = Robotic Kier and Ratchet Reeves have gone and Andy just needs to get on with it now.

If AB moves to the left, then he has no mandate, so should call a GE. If he sticks to the manifesto, then why replace KS?

Perhaps you are in some sort of bubble and didn't realise that not everyone is bigoted towards Catholics. You certainly seem surprised at the reaction to your comment.

Because if he tries to make big bold moves to "get things done and the country moving" and his OWN party keep blocking his every move. Then he's stuck, completely stuck with no where to go except a GE to have a re shuffle and get his own government.

No, you said I chose to unilaterally post not will choose to. Don't try railroading me because to do that you're going to have to not rely on lies. There are motives for a non secular PM, should he choose to pursue them. Fortunately, there are protections around that.

He would find it easier to manage the backbenchers with fewer of them! They are unwieldy and difficult to manage. They brief against the pm and have got used to it. He won’t keep them on side because it’s impossible.

I agree. The huge majority is unwieldy and any leader is going to struggle to appease all his party when it has so many MOs and so many factions.

If there isn't another one no one else clearly thought it was 'concerning' enough to start one.He will not be able to impose Catholic doctrine into law, because it doesn't matter what his religion is, or for that matter if he is practicing or non practicing. Wes Streeting is a practicing Christian, Rishi Sunak is a practicing Hindu, Shabana Mahmoud is a practicing Muslim.

Andy Burnham might be a nice personable chappy but he has no mandate from the electorate at large to be where he is. This country is supposed to be a democracy but he was elected by a few hundred MPs.

How is that democratic?

The entire process by which he gets to No 10 sounds like it is something from Trumptown.

Why did you use the word 'all' then? Do you think all Labour supporters did it, and if so how does that mean they had the power to set the scene? Or do you think all the people doing it were Labour? Because what you've written here is not like the rather mangled comment in the preceding post.

It's a lot of hole digging to back up a rather silly claim. Particularly when you could've just made the entirely reasonable point that it's annoying to see people who called for GEs when their party were in opposition suddenly change tune now.
