AIBU to think Andy Burnham might call a general election soon?

To think Andy Burnham will call a general election before Christmas? Yes it would be a massive roll of the dice but,

Reform - don't have the numbers for a GE and there's all frog faces suspicious money bringing him a lot of heat.

Torys - kemi doesn't have a lot of depth, I feel and she hasn't changed much in the polls. She's good at the dispatch box but let's face it anyone could stand up and insult the other side.

By calling a GE Andy would have his own mandate and break the deadlock of the back benchers.

Not being unreasonable = he needs to call a GE

Your being unreasonable = Robotic Kier and Ratchet Reeves have gone and Andy just needs to get on with it now.

Why should he? Give him a chance, he hasn't even chosen his government yet. And did any of the Tory idiots?

No one has won an election from the left for over 50 years. Burnham will swing left and put Labour back into the electoral wilderness. His immediate successor will probably stay left because Labour never learn from history. Eventually, after two or three GE losses, they’ll regain some sanity and move back to the right. I foresee another chance for them in then 2040s.

On the contrary. I for one am having an absolutely fabulous day. A new PM who gives me hope, filled with enthusiasm and rolling up his sleeves. Quite honestly it’s the best day I’ve had for a looooong time.

Once again, don't include me in the 'you' of Labour supporters. I am a floating voter and you don't know who I've most recently chosen for what. You are not going to do the you only disagree with something stupid I've said because you're a Labour supporter routine here. @CagneyLacey just want to highlight this bit to you as well.

And either way, Labour didn't set the scene. The only way this could be true is if you included people who are literally MPs and activists for other movements in 'Labour' which is obviously batshit. They simply didn't have that level of influence.

I'm not convinced on that point. If Andy can make a stronger case for Labour who knows they could swing it. Stranger things have happened. I also think two party politics have had their day Kemi is a strong speaker but nothing much else to convince me to vote for her. One things for sure we are in a completely new era of politics. Very interesting.

Fair enough but, in the broader sweep, I am of the belief that the UK wants less socialism, not more - and I don’t see Burnham being able to deliver that - quite the opposite, in fact.

Tactical voting will see to the rest.

Just my view you understand.

If you subscribe to there not being an early GE, then logically you have to grant the Conservatives the same three years - hard to see anyone other than Kemi picking up the majority of disenfranchised Reform voters.

From partygate onwards Labour (including Labourites) leant in / created / used whatever you want to hound the last gov. You now don’t like it.

@BIossomtoes I agree. Nigel has buckled until scrutiny at top level. Will there be a Reform come the next election? And if so will they have enough candidates to stand? Because at the moment they are no where near.
