Neighbours having a karaoke party

The neighbours directly behind us have been having a karaoke party since about 6pm. It’s been fine up until now, and it’s suddenly ramped up a notch and they’re drunkenly screaming. We can hear it with the window closed, but it’s too hot to have the window closed anyway!

My partner has just had surgery and we both hoped to get some decent sleep tonight but it’s not going to happen now, is it?!

Every so often the microphone screeches with feedback too. AIBU to go around and say something?

I agree with this too. Some of my neighbours are doing similar. It’s Saturday night and not mega late.

If you post that you're being kept awake by drunken neighbours you're told to calm down and put some earplugs in. Basically whatever you post you're the one in the wrong 🤷‍♀️

I was just thinking this. I remember I saw a post on here about someone who wanted to listen to music on the beach (at 7pm!) and was told she was selfish, ruining other people’s experience of the beach etc etc.

Yet I’m in the wrong for wanting some sleep at midnight?!

Yeah this is what gets me. It started at six, went on till 3 in the morning. Why wouldn’t you just hire a venue?

It doesn't matter if it was once in a century. You cannot behave like that. That's what venue hire is for.

I find it really strange that people say this, but if I were to sit out in my garden with my music playing people would say I am BU because people deserve quiet enjoyment of their gardens?

What time did it end OP? My husband would have gone round there (obviously yours couldn't because he was recovering) some people are beyond selfish.

I think eventually around 3-ish. We did manage to drift off, after my SIL (god bless her) brought some ear plugs around. But my partner is on a strict two hour medication routine so we were up an hour later. It was quiet when we woke up at 3:45

Lots of people will say you are being unreasonable, that your neighbour has every right to disturb you and every other neighbour in a half mile radius (more by the sounds of them screeching like demented seagulls).

They are inconsiderate and antisocial. Hopefully one of your other neighbours will lose their shit and tell them to stfu. It happened near us. People came out is their houses and applauded. The offenders moved shortly after.

Used to turn it off at midnight when his girlfriend and kids lived there, but she left him after one too many beatings.
Every Saturday night blaring into the early hours until one night I snapped and went hammering on his door at 2am telling him to shut up. TBF he turned it off.
The following Saturday he was doing it again. I couldn't face dragging myself out of bed, I'd probably have got myself arrested, I was so mad.
It finally went quiet at 4.30 am.
Found out later that day that some other neighbours had rang the local club and pub at around midnight thinking that one of them had a really loud band on, asking them to turn it down because it was keeping their young children awake.
Sod that attitude of "it's Saturday night/ people are awake/ it's a one off".
Not everyone has the luxury of a Sunday lie in.

Every Saturday night blaring into the early hours until one night I snapped.

The difference here is that OP said that their neighbours/neighbourhood are usually quiet.

They shouldn't be doing the karaoke in the garden. Should be inside and yes it is selfish and inconsiderate even on a Saturday night. What about young children who are in bed asleep. People just don't care.

In the fucking garden??? Good grief! Selfish knobs everywhere. If we had people round for bbqs etc. we would probably take it indoors at 10pm and carry on.

It's why my TV on the party wall with my neighbours goes on at full volume 6am sharp on a Sunday if they pull any crap Saturday night into the small hours.

F*cking with people's sleep is not on.

Cut your grass 6am for them to enjoy.

My NDNs know if they keep us awake with their socialising til 2am then we put our TV on 6am sharp on a Sunday. We were consistent with it. They no longer pull that crap. It's the only language some folk understand.

We live in a really quiet area. As in, usually nothing after about 9pm. I just think it’s really inconsiderate to have a full blown karaoke going, outdoors, at 11:30 at night. Do it inside or, preferably, at a karaoke bar. Every time it sounds like it’s stopped they put on another song and get louder somehow.

Outside!!!! Absolutely not.

I feel like you could be my neighbours- the ones at the bottom of the garden had a party that started at 2pm and descended into very loud karaoke (starting with Sweet Caroline).

They went past midnight. Thankfully we havw long gardens and efficient windows...

There's a woman i see on Facebook who does this. She has a PA set up in her garden and just parties out there. Rough as fuck.

It depends on your noise laws. Where I am 10pm is the limit.
