I do not agree with it in any circumstances. What would you do in the case of a miscarriage of justice? And you can't guarantee there would never be one.

I’m happy to take the death penalty off the table. However, I don’t believe people should be protected in prison. They can take their chances, pretty much like everyone else in society had to take their chances with them and their crimes. Seems fair. That will then pretty much take care of the situation in most cases, problem solved.

They can’t bring back outdated punishment methods because of ONE book written a REALLY long time ago.

Murder is abhorrent. But fighting fire with fire has never been the way forward.

If something is wrong, it's always wrong, even in emotive situations. I believe the death penalty is wrong and that civilised societies don't sanction murder (or torture or mistreatment), even in the face of horrendous crimes.

I actually don’t know how I’d vote if it were ever on the table that we were in a position to bring back hanging. But I read this case - and others like it - and I’d have no issue with them being dispatched. I cannot fathom how anyone can abuse or kill a child

It’s hard to think that a mother could do that to her baby is beyond any understanding for most caring parents. This so soon after the trial of Jamie Varley is making me rethink about introducing the death penalty even though I have been so against it.

I don't believe in the death sentence under any circumstances - whether mandated in the Bible or not.

So why does 'your lord' put babies on earth just to suffer in pain from cancer and other horrible diseases only to die a few months later?

And you can't randomly apply the death sentence just because it may suit certain public outcries.

I don’t agree with the death penalty under any circumstances, I don’t believe the state should have the power to murder its citizens. It’s easy to be morally consistent too, as individuals all have their opinions on who deserves it and who doesn’t. If you fundamentally disagree that the state should not have that power then there’s nothing to grapple with.

As a human being we can all feel like we would happily have some horrible individuals killed - wouldn’t you want to do that to anyone who even harmed your own children somehow - but I think law and justice should be above that, protecting everyone from our more primal instincts.

I’m not sure you are as Christian as you would like to believe by the way.
