I nearly went to Norfolk last weekend, but I was right in my analysis that it wouldn't cool down much over there. My neighbour has a campervan and she drove over there. She said it was a couple of degrees cooler than here but it wouldn't have been worth the train fare and a hotel. Tbh I don't really know how she manages with the camper van - don't they get really hot? I think she actually does sleep outside on these trips, but she doesn't want to say so for some reason. She was raised in Ireland, on the coast, and she's really struggling. Came here for work and I think is rather regretting it.

It said today and yesterday were forcast to be 22 but ended up 28

Apparently its going to be autumnal weather in many parts of the uk next week
The schools( near me ) finish for summer tommorow so thats about right.🙄

I imagine it is statistically more likely to be hot in August than it is in July? So I doubt it's over.

@mindymoo11 I completely understand if you don't want to say where you are. But no one can tell you unless they're looking at the same postcode and looking at decent weather forecasts. The best one I found is a local amateur broadcaster who predicted the horrible June one about a month in advance - thanks to that person, I was away for it. (I live in a boiling new build which won't go down below 25 until October or November, no that's not a joke, it might take longer this year though, that's a normal summer).

The official forecasts are all shit. If i check what the highest temperature was at the end of the day, it was completely different than what was forecast. my local amateur person has got it right.

Where I am, they are consistently under reporting the temperatures

So they claim it will go down to 25 at the weekend. I can confidently say it won't. Then it's forecast to go up again from Wednesday

There is no end in sight.

I was up north a couple of weeks ago and it was so nice. About 25 and lots of air! Just nice summer days - I think it got hot up there after I came home though.

Here in Manchester it's supposed to drop to 19° on Saturday and then next week will fluctuate between 20° and 23°.

I am in yorkshire and we have had temperatures between 24 and 27 degrees this week. The nights have cooled down to the low teens though. At least i have been able to get quite a bit done in the morning before it gets too hot.

I'm in the SE and it definitely looks like it's cooling off tomorrow and into the weekend. More importantly over night temperatures are going down to the low to mid teens, which allows buildings to lose the heat they've absorbed during the day. Hope it lasts.

I'm in the southwest and I tried going for a walk today. Big mistake. Huge. I lasted ten minutes before seeking out an ice cream and heading home. 27C here, according to the weather forecast but I would say it's more.

I'm going camping next week. It's bound to rain.

I’m also in the south east and on the 19th it drops to 24, past that it’s between 27 and 29 each day for the next ten days and rhe forecasters are saying it will hit 36 again. So no. I don’t think it’s over.

SW here too and it's been between 28⁰ and 31.5⁰ according to the car today. Really muggy too. I'll believe it when I see it - though usually the kids breaking up from school is the catalyst for 6 weeks of rain...

Of course it bloody is. Schools are about the break up so naturally the weather is going to be shit for exactly 6 weeks, when an ‘Indian summer’ will return just as everyone is back to school again.

I’m term time only and it pisses me off every year. Wish the summer holidays were in June and July.

I assume rain once all children are on school holidays.

Nah, wishful thinking mate. The heatwave is not going to end anytime soon. Or if it does, there will be another one on the way. It's still July!

BBC news say that Met Office advise this is the new norm. I know you want a link but I can't be arsed because I'm too fucking hot. Find it yourself 😅

The heatwave definitely isn't over. It will be more seasonal at the weekend (25C), but will then be back up to 29C+. There is also no prospect of rain at all.

The big difference between this week and a fortnight ago, is that the temp drops overnight and it's a slow build up to 29C, not really getting hot until the afternoon.

We’ve got August to get through yet.
