Another day another post about the boyfriend...just set him free, you'll both be much happier

Hes had someone in his car who needs a booster seat, who that is, as others said, is anyone's guess. Youll have to ask.

May I ask why you are reacting like this instead of just asking him? Has he behaved in a way that makes you suspicious?

Edited

OP doesn't need to ask. The answer is right in front of her. Her daughter is 6. Her boyfriend needs a booster seat if OP's daughter is to travel in his car legally.

AquaWhichIsFrenchForWater · 16/07/2026 19:35

Every time I see “AIBU to overthink …………” I know exactly who the OP is going to be.

End the relationship. Work on yourself and your trust issues.
Or, if the shoe fits, keep entertaining yourself under the bridge (if you catch my drift).

CalmTheFuckDownMargaret · 16/07/2026 13:33

Any other children he knows that he mentions at all? Did he know you were taking the car and had time to remove the seat? Do you never get in his car at all usually (so the seat might be permanent) or has it suddenly appeared?

prh47bridge · 16/07/2026 13:33

35% of those responding to the poll think OP is not unreasonable! Who are these people who think it is dodgy that a man has a booster seat in his car when his girlfriend has a 6-year-old daughter!

MadamRaz · 16/07/2026 13:29

This, and the OP's previous threads about this bloke, cannot be serious! Made up bollocks I reckon 🤣

You really really need to seek help for your anxiety rach.

Not joking.

JLou08 · 16/07/2026 12:47

It's really simple, just ask him.
Maybe he never got round to moving it. Maybe he had a friend in there with a child. Maybe he had to transfer a child at work.
Why do you think it's dodgy? Secret child (but just the one, he told you about 2 but kept one secret)?
Planning an abduction but ensuring child car safety whilst he does?

OP, you really aren't in any state of mind to be in a relationship. You've posted about a dozen threads in a matter of weeks in which you are convinced that your boyfriend is cheating on you, for reasons ranging from a typo in one of his text messages to him going for a drive on a sunny day to owning more than one toothbrush. You also announced that you wanted a baby with him when you'd only been with him five months.

Nobody here knows if your boyfriend is shagging someone else but JFC, this isn't healthy for either of you.

THIS! The booster is the least of your worries!

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 16/07/2026 12:28

Oh jesus christ it's you again.

Every week it's a new reason why you don't trust him. It doesn't matter if any of them are good reasons (and this one is slightly better than all the rest of them)

You don't trust him. You never will. End the sodding relationship and put us all out of our misery.

KitsyWitsy · 16/07/2026 12:22

He's your 'partner' but you have no idea why he has a booster seat in his car?

OK.

JayJayj · 16/07/2026 12:22

rachel55488 · 16/07/2026 10:51

My daughters 6

Surely your daughter is in a high back booster at 6?

If you just put her in the car maybe he thought a booster would be better than nothing?

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 16/07/2026 12:17

Could be anything surely?

Giving a lift to a friend or family member who has a child.

Maybe it’s an old booster he means to take to the charity shop.

Ask him!

I'd run a mile from you if I was him.

He is breaking the law if he is driving without your 6 year old being in a car seat.

I wouldn’t worry too much. Said boyfriend doesn’t exist - luckily.

Is your boyfriend very short?
Could it be his?

Actual LOL

IDrinkTeaAllTheTime · 16/07/2026 12:14

And she returns. Do you not have a job, OP. Poor fictitious guy 🙄

LadyHat · 16/07/2026 12:14

rachel55488 · 16/07/2026 10:51

My daughters 6

So it would be illegal for her to be in a car without at least a booster seat, ideally a high backed booster then. Presumably, if he takes you and your daughter out in his car he is trying to keep her safe and avoid points on his license? I would be far more concerned if he was willing to take her in the car without a booster!

Unless she is extraordinarily tall for her age (over 135cm - about 4ft 5.2in), she must be in a booster seat. If she isn't, the driver is committing an offence unless one of the exceptions applies (which they don't in this case). So I expect it is for her. However, I share the astonishment of others on this thread that you haven't simply asked him. Unless you have reason to fear his reaction (in which case, why are you with him), asking him is the sensible thing to do. If I were him and discovered your OP, I would regard that as a huge red flag.

MargoylesofBeelzebub · 16/07/2026 12:03

OP if you're posting regularly about being suspicious of tiny things your BF is doing, perhaps you should seek help for relationship OCD.

The girl in this article is worried she'll cheat, but it could take many forms such as ruminating that your partner is cheating.

WaltzingWaters · 16/07/2026 12:03

So far the only red flags here are either that you don’t feel that you can ask him this simple question for fear of his reaction, or for him, that you seem completely paranoid and unable to communicate.

It could be the simplest answer, like he got it for your child to use.

BillieWiper · 16/07/2026 12:02

Thechaseison71 · 16/07/2026 11:17

Yeah it's normal for a 6 year old to have a booster seat

Ok cool, thank you. I thought so but nobody in my family drives.

Northernlights19 · 16/07/2026 12:01

Canonlythinkofthisone · 16/07/2026 11:12

Well it would be illegal to drive your 6 year old around without a car seat
....
So. Probably that.

Weird that you'd let your child in the car with someone you seemingly don't trust or are able to have a conversation with....

I agree. How is he your "partner" if you don't have a basic level of trust? And how are you trusting him with the person most precious to you (your daughter) if you can't ask him a simple question?

MyDeftDuck · 16/07/2026 12:00

Ask him…….you've more chance of speaking to him than all of us on MN!

Velumental · 16/07/2026 11:57

Any normal person would say 'oh, why the booster?' have you ever had a conversation with this man?
