I live with someone who puts the butter dish in the fridge?

Why the fuckbwiuld you do that?

Every morning without fail I have to piss around dragging cold hard lumps of butter around my toast.

We get through so much butter its not like its going to go off if left iut, we are not living in a tropical climate.

Really grinds my gears

People putting dirty plates etc NEXT to the dishwasher. I am literally the only person who puts stuff inside it.

We have a dishwasher. They walk past the dishwasher to put stuff in the sink. 🙄

You are wrong. Butter tastes much better cold.

Not if it isn't spreading and tears the bread to pieces

Bertolli isn't butter, it's a spread made from butter and oil

TotHappy · 16/07/2026 08:36

I've never had butter go off. If it happens to you you're not eating enough butter.

Deepstone · 16/07/2026 08:05

My parents do this because they think the butter will go bad if they leave it out.
Fine when it’s their butter in their house, but they will keep on doing it with my butter in my house too when they visit.

I can see their reasoning, especially when it’s hot like it has been recently, but that sort of problem is easily avoided by just leaving a slice of butter off the main block in the butter dish at a time.

Anyway, as pp say, his and hers butter dishes sound like a great idea.

Katemax82 · 16/07/2026 08:03

My mum used to do this. When I visited her and made crumpets for my son her butter was all gross like it had been slightly melted on the outside then put back in the fridge (the outside was dark yellow ). She also put normal butter in an anchor "so soft" tub then put it in the fridge. I remember my sister making toast moaning that it was more like anchor "so hard" until I pointed out it's just normal butter

OvernightBloats · 16/07/2026 07:59

'His & Hers' butter dishes is the way forward. He can chisel into his own hard butter and you can enjoy yours. Division of labour. 😀

Pop the butter dish in the microwave for 10 seconds.

Get out of this thread and shut the door behind you.

Yes, hide your butter in a different cupboard. Your own personal butter

Thanks, I shall now spend the day singing ‘Your own - personal - butter’ in the style of Personal Jesus.

Become a two butter household. Cut block in half. Let them have their fridge-hard rubbish butter. Leave your half hidden in a cupboard. Enjoy your lovely oozing melty toast.

MistakenFlutterby · 16/07/2026 07:43

Buy his and hers butter dishes. Yours can stay out and he can chill his.

ChaToilLeam · 16/07/2026 07:41

I hear you and agree.

Another annoying thing. Mosquitoes. 🦟 Especially in the bedroom at night.
