Kier and Kemi showed the best of British politics today

I think those meetings at the dispatch box are what some of us are looking forward to! I have in my head that he's already been practicing how to handle Kemi.

No she’s not nasty but Starmer was horrendous and belittling at PMQs, she did well to get through it.

Perhaps Burnham will be better on that score.

She's not nasty, she's incisive and assertive.

And yes, her job is to thoroughly test what the ruling party does. It’s like prosecution and defence, in law.

I doubt Kemi would be delighted to see him go. The vast majority of MPs want the country to do well. They differ in how to achieve it. No one wants instability or incompetence.

It was really nice to hear that they have been decent to each other behind the scenes. So much of PMQs is play acting, and it's part of Kemi's job to be seen to be ripping lumps out of the PM.

I would never vote Tory in a million years, but Kemi was an excellent shadow Women's minister. She was always fully briefed and didn't just stick to the trendy lines or the path of least resistance

I liked Keir's final 'goodbye!' to the chamber. Probably adding 'you shower of fuckers!' under his breath 😁

I'm not a Keir fan but I thought how nice it was when he said how much Kemi had been very supportive to him in private when his house was attacked and also when his brother died.

I quite like Kemi, it's taken a while to warm to her but I think she might well make a decent prime minister in the future.

Because politics is fighting without weapons and things need to be fought through to get done

I think both Keir and Kemi have more substance about them than most of their parties put together.

Ah well, let’s see how the local Mayor fares at running the country next.

It's all so disingenuous. The Labour MPs clapping him after kicking him out. Kemi pretending she isn't delighted he is going.

I had hoped that the Lawyer in Starmer would have moved PMQs to opposite ask a question and then a well reasoned answer to the answer. But all we got was 2 years of "....14 years of tory rule ,,,,,, I'll take no lectures from ..... breakfast clubs". Who knows Burnham might come in and completely stump Kemi with a full and frank answer to her questions.

Some people will shoehorn Brexit into anything. It’s the same as it’s ever been.

Starmer and Badenoch tore lumps out of each other for two years because that’s how politics works. It works like that here and everywhere else.

But they are all humans and have emotions and private lives.

I think we seriously need politics to demonstrate that it’s about systems, not people. At the moment, too many think it’s ok to despise people who vote differently from them. It’s extremely short sighted and doesn’t recognise the complexity behind people’s choices.

I agree op respectfully acknowledging each other politics is a nasty business but not all politicians are nasty and self serving I don’t think KS or KB are they are dedicated politicians

I think in time many more people will appreciate what Starmer has gone for the Labour Party more than anything, Under his leadership the party became a respectable party again and he has led the way for Burham to have a much easier time managing the party which has always been an issue for Labour

I remember it well! We were mesmerised by it! It's frankly been my most useful A Level too, even 35 years later!

I think she did well shaming the Labour MPs when she said Starmer had pulled off a landslide victory from disaster, and that none of the 400 Labour MPs could beat him in a leadership contest, they had to bring someone in from outside. Good for her!

Yes when I was doing A Level politics 100 years ago, we would spend half a lesson watching PMQ's between Thatcher and Kinnock. That was not remotely polite!
