AIBU to find the cooler weather surprisingly cold after the heatwave?

For the first time in months I’ve been able to have my trusty hot water bottle back again for my IBS and endo pain, so right in this moment I am happy.

It’s been like a sauna here for months. I’ve just got up as I’m so hot. fed up with it now.

Well it's been 27 degrees here today in West London,so hardly what I'd call cold! It would have to drop to around 16 before I felt cold.

It's still too hot for me, I'm laid in bed with no covers & the air cooler fan on max. I hate being too hot & I'm on antidepressants that warn about high temperatures, I had a text from my doctors warning patients on antidepressants about managing during the heatwave. My ice maker machine is on 24/7 & I haven't cooked in weeks, I have had a takeaway tonight that was a hot meal & it's the first hot meal in over a month. I love winter, being able to wear multiple layers & can't wait for the cold weather so I can snuggle under my duvet.

E, no. It’s still so hot here (south) that I actually threw up from the effects of the heat today. My body just can’t cope with it for days on end. It’s really pissing me off now 😫

Was down to London at weekend and was struggling very much with the heat. But past 2 nights back in scotland, while its still about 20 degrees during day, I have felt colder at night than I do in winter. So yeah YANBU

I guess I live in an area which has not had excessively high temperatures as I still feel hot now! I think it’s only dropped a few degrees and I’m still sleeping without covers with my fan on intermittently through the night. I did put my sheet over me at 6 am as my legs felt cold though.

I’ve recently had two total knee replacements, one last December and one in May, so have found even the heat here very difficult to cope with. My knees keep swelling up which exacerbates the pain and I feel that my progress is going backwards! I long for it to get a bit cooler, like 20 to 22° rather than the 25° we are promised for several days.

Luckily we’ve also had plenty of rain here this year ( NW region) so no hosepipe ban as I struggle enough to water my patio pots with a hosepipe, the bushes would be dead if I could only use a watering can!

I'm in East Sussex,it was 27c last night in our bungalow,we treated ourselves to a proper Portable air conditioner unit about 6 years ago. My DD lives fairly close by in an old stone cottage,I thought would be cool. She said it was in the 30s in their bedrooms,so they've been sleeping downstairs. In winter, the maximum we have our central heating on is 18. Forecast at the beginning of the week said storms and rain today, but that's changed.

Been 28-29 during the day here and a lot cooler at night. It's lovely after the weeks we've had preceding it. Not that long ago I would have thought of 28-29 as a very hot summer day in the UK but now it feels normal.

Indeed. I remember going to Valencia in early March and it was sunny with temperatures in the high teens. The locals thought we were mad for walking around in jeans and t shirts when they were still wrapped up in winter coats and scarves.

I'm far North East and it's been much cooler the past couple of days, I was actually cold on the school run yesterday morning, it was about 14 degrees which is a massive drop from the high 20s we have been having.

we def acclimatise. I went to Spain at the end of Jan this year and sat outside a bar in the sunshine ... it was about 15/16 and I thought it was boiling compared to our frosty winter.

It's not cold at all, you have simply acclimatised to very warm weather so the drop in temperature feels cold, like if you go on a hot holiday and feel chilly when you land back in the UK even if temperatures are in the mild mid twenties. Don't immediately reach for heating and jumpers (unless you have a health.condition) but simply take time to adjust to it and perhaps enjoy the feeling of being a bit too cool.

Forks type weather suits me. I’m so happy when it’s not hot.

I’m in Ireland and it’s still absolutely fucking boiling here and I can’t wait for it to end. They keep saying it will end and then it gets extended. I absolutely hate the heat and can’t wait for the cold. Where are you?

Im genuinely looking at Norway to live as this is going to only get worse. It’s unbearable!!!

It's nice, so much better than feeling sweaty and ill every day. It's still warm, wearing t-shirts etc, nice to have it warm but not boiling. This is what summers meant to be like .

15 degrees here currently, definitely feeling cool sat outside.

It drops to 12 overnight here at the moment, and with all the windows and doors open in the morning to get a stiff breeze through, it feels distinctly cool.in our house, where the room temp is 21+ a breeze. Overcast here most of the morning, and windy.

Even 24 with shade and a strong wind feels cool, and it doesn't get warmer than that inside.

I'm chilly, but enjoying it until I have to head out to pick my son up in the full afternoon heat.

I know what you mean, the mornings and nights are very chilly but it does still get hot around 11am ish here and stays that way till evening. Yesterday morning I had to put a jumper on but was roasting by midday.

You are joking! It's still bloomin hot and the evenings are fresh.

It's still around 27-28° during the day down south. It was midnight before I was happy to turn the fan off.

I was going to say similar… (East Lancs here btw). I have a condition where my body doesn’t cope with sudden hot/cold changes very well. I’m finding it daft cold at night and have an extra blanket on me right now. If my healthy adult daughter said the same (she lives 10 mins down the road), I’d be suggesting she keeps an eye on things and maybe see her GP if it was no better in a day or so!
It does feel desert-like at the moment. Really hot during the day and really cold at night.
