AIBU to complain about a large group taking over our swim-up pool?

On a much needed holiday nice resort booked a suite that has swim up pool to the 6 adjoining rooms. This is on a huge resort with 4 big pools this is a separate small pool just for these rooms but it’s perfect for us as our youngest is a nervous swimmer.
on Monday there were a few kids climbing over the wall we were on our balcony not using pool but could see this playing out. They all jumped in the pool, joined by 6 adults drinks in hand climbing over wall also (it’s a tiny wall to denote separation a foot or two high)
anyways someone in the downstairs room called reception someone came along to tell the 6 adults and 8 kids this is for these rooms only but you can stay an hour.
yest we were in the pool and they all rocked up again this time trying to take our sunbeds saying could we use these as your in pool as their numberous children starting jumping into pool. It was chaos, got dc out out and said to one of the women who could speak English - this pool is just a small pool for these few rooms only to which she said I’m staying in that one (pointed to a room she could or could not be staying in I haven’t seen anyone coming or going so not sure?!))
anyways I said well these rooms sleep four so the rest of these people aren’t staying here she was aggressive as were the rest and said it’s not up to you I paid for my room these are my guests. I said that’s not how it works this is rude a couple I wouldn’t mind but that many kids and adults just force’s everybody else who actually has a room there out.
didn’t call reception as dc were worried it would kick off if we saw them again but I’m pissed off so would it be unreasonable that If this large group do the same again today and the hotel won’t sort them out I arrange for all my guests (me gathering up everyone I’ve spoke to at the hotel to congregate here so there’s no room for the cheeky fuckers?! Or I’m open to other suggestions I’m not above tell youngest to dirty protest in the pool if needed 😂

You lost me at dirty protest

Quite obviously she's joking. So no worries if you're "lost".

Mancity08 · 15/07/2026 15:12

Id If taken a video for sure, you need evidence to back anything up these days

if it happens today, get your phone out and record everything, jumping the wall etc

I’m struggling to make sense of most of your posts, but I did get the bit about letting your kids shit in the pool. Grim. And would absolutely make you a huge C**t.

Obviously you need to speak to reception if you think people are using the pool when they shouldn’t be.

Bloody disgusting.

Dh now saying he could have saved the £700 difference if he’d have known we could have hopped the wall too 🙈😂

I think you could say you will expect a refund of the £700 if the poll usage is not enforced by the hotel.

OldScribbler · 15/07/2026 15:00

You should have spoken to the management in my view.

DixonD · 15/07/2026 14:54

This is another thread I’ve read before! Or extremely similar to another poster’s situation a few years or so ago. It’s actually the only times in my life I’ve ever heard the term “swim up pool”!

DeftGoldHedgehog · 15/07/2026 14:37

If I had a private pool and random kids jumped in I think I'd be out there lobbing them back over the wall 😅And their parents too.

Erinsborough · 15/07/2026 14:36

I wonder where u are staying lol we had a similar issue last year at our swim up and I was fuming we had worked hard to pay for our holiday and I just felt like it put a bit of a dampener on it because its meant to be relaxing and you pay a premium price for they facilities

BurnoutGP · 15/07/2026 14:28

Why are you being so pathetic. Swim up rooms are significantly more expensive. I would indeed confront them and insist reception and/or the tour operators sort it out. Come on.

Easterchicken · 15/07/2026 14:27

Also make sure you speak to your rep and make a complaint while there

They won't take any notice if you wait till the end of your holiday

Easterchicken · 15/07/2026 14:25

Is the pool deffo just for those rooms?? IV been to some resorts with swim up rooms but the pool is actually fine for all guests (which made me feel a tad uncomfy really as they can all see our stuff or us in the room if we're in the room)

Viviennemary · 15/07/2026 13:42

Oh dear. Wrong thread. Sorry

Viviennemary · 15/07/2026 13:42

Maybe they mean you would be prepared to work between these hours but can decline shifts that don't suit. Not be on call

GreenCandleWax · 15/07/2026 13:12

Why do people on here (and on another hotel thread on here today) keep on about going to reception, particularly as they have dealt with it so ineptly so far? The person to see right now is the manager. Don't be fobbed off. Its his or her job to deal with this properly. I would be livid.

Westernfiels · 15/07/2026 12:53

Ask for the 700 refund anyway because they shouldnt have allowed the hour!

Anyway i would never pay extra for that as most likely to grt people loud right outside your room!
700 isnt that much extra though ive seen people online saying its really expensive.

Sometimes I would rather shit in my hands and clap than do something. I definitely would never actually ever shit on them or indeed anywhere that wasn’t a wc. It’s just an expression

Indeed. Sometimes when I'm scared I might tell people I shat myself. I didn't in fact shit myself.
And so on.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 15/07/2026 12:43

Yes OP glad it’s sorted too. Now have a shitting fantastic holiday 😁

Again to clarify since my attempt at humour is failing there will be no dirty protests none at all I promise

😂 Are you sure now OP? Can we really trust you? 😂

Humour failure for some I think.

Glad it’s sorted. Enjoy your holiday.

You sound unhinged! Your partner would do this? You both sound as bad as each other.

Again, it’s a J-O-K-E. You don’t have to find it funny but OP is clearly not being serious!! Jeez.

OneNewLeader · 15/07/2026 11:35

Complain to the manager of the resort, explain if this isn’t resolved you’ll use SM to try and get more senior.interest in the company, to help resolve this problem.

dnadiscoveryquery · 15/07/2026 11:28

HoppingPavlova · 15/07/2026 10:25

Well, you escalate to the manager in this situation. It’s not appropriate, so escalate it to get sorted.

Another one ! RTFT. It’s sorted.

I understood that this was a joke and I laughed!!!

Some people have suffered a humour bypass...
