How many people do you know who live to 110!?!

Average life span for women is 81, I think, slightly lower for men. So 40 is middle aged.

Thats why I said its half of your adult age, so from the age of 18-80 its somewhere in the middle of that

Cliff Richard is one of the Young Ones and he's 85... so you can't argue with facts. I presume his grandparents would now be classed as middle-aged, if they were still with us.

My relatives all live 100+ so I would say 50 is probs middle aged for me.

For the average person it'll be about 40

@Middleaged77 , middle-aged means the age when people have passed the having babies age but not yet retired. As a rough guide - between 45 and 70 yrs of age.

It does not mean 30 years old or half the way through the average lifetime.

At 24 I married my then 33 year old husband. At 25 I had a child. At 26 I had another one. Been married nearly 30 years now.

Its no age gap at all. The op is bonkers.

I was 24 when I met dh. He was early 30s. I was living in my own and had a career. Early stages, but still. It never felt like a gap. It never felt like he had the power; we were equals from the start.

20+ years later, 24 seems so, so young. But I have to remind myself that I didn't feel very young at that age. Now, even early 30s seems really young!
