AIBU to be put off after he poured wine on the floor?

2nd date, sat in restaurant and we each had a glass of wine. He commented that he wasn’t keen on the wine and said he’d get a soft drink next time. I finished my drink and he had half of his glass left so I said I was going to get another drink and did he want to get a soft drink now or was he going to finish his wine. He picked up the glass, tipped the wine onto the floor (!!!!!!) and said “finished” and laughed. Several people saw him do it. I was mortified and said “did you really just tip that onto the floor??” And he acted like he was a bit embarrassed but laughed and said he didn’t like it. Waitress came across, noticed the puddle on the floor and he laughed and said “sorry about that” whilst looking at me like he was expecting me to laugh.

after the date he messaged me saying he’d had a good time and asked if I had and I replied “I’m still processing the sight of someone purposely spilling half a glass of wine onto a restaurant floor….” And he replied “still on that? Seriously? 😂”

am I over reacting?? It’s really put me off

He’ll treat you that disrespectfully too

ThreadGuardDog · 14/07/2026 20:55

OP block and dump. He’s trouble.

Loulou4022 · 14/07/2026 20:54

Huge red flag! He sounds deranged! If he can do that on a second date and then accuse you of still going on about it he’ll only get worse!

worldshottestmom · 14/07/2026 20:52

Yeaaaaah never date anyone who has no respect for service staff of any level. Should have tipped himself into the bin instead to save you a job. No respect, so you won't get any either.

BillieWiper · 14/07/2026 14:15

That sounds like someone in psychosis (unlikely) or a sociopath if he thinks that's normal?

You clearly don’t know what either term actually means.

Pherian · 14/07/2026 20:51

Nah, not over reacting. He showed you that there is no respect for the people serving him at the restaurant - they will have to clean up his mess, not the people at the restaurant including you / who just watched a grown man pour his drink on the floor like a toddler.

The fact that he thinks you should just get over it already tells what you need to know about how you have to deal with his future behaviour as well.

He is a weirdo.

SqueakyFromme · 14/07/2026 20:51

@Sidebeforeself no, I think it’s annoying and not real

SqueakyFromme · 14/07/2026 20:50

@ExplodingSmittens are they bot generated to drive traffic ?

Quokkafeet · 14/07/2026 20:49

It's unhinged behaviour. He would be really stressful to date because you'd never know what he would do next. Doesn't know how to behave correctly in society. It will only bring drama, which will eventually reflect upon you. Get rid!

SunnyRedSnail · 14/07/2026 20:39

282 posts, 6 hours, 3000 people agree and still no update from the OP...

Maybe they've gone to pour wine over his head???

His actions were unhinged!

igelkott2026 · 14/07/2026 20:35

I'd be put off too. I think it's been pretty much unanimous hasn't it OP?

MrsJeanLuc · 14/07/2026 20:25

Pinkflamingo10 · 14/07/2026 14:05

There wouldn’t be a 3rd date for me

This. No need to read any further!

If he can behave like that in public how much worse will he be in private? Imagine you're both in your kitchen eating a meal you've cooked - if he doesn't like something is he just going to throw the whole plate of food on the floor?

Dump him

Sidebeforeself · 14/07/2026 20:21

Op is strangely silent .. just me who is suspicious?!

Lottie6712 · 14/07/2026 20:19

Hard no from me.

Growlybear83 · 14/07/2026 20:19

I think I would have just walked out of the restaurant if I’d been with someone who did that.

fromthegecko · 14/07/2026 20:15

Antisocial, but still feels entitled to OP's attention. I do hope he doesn't have her address.

maowmaow · 14/07/2026 20:15

He has showed you exactly who he is. Believe him.

vickylou78 · 14/07/2026 20:10

Red flag for sure.... This was a second date so he will have been trying to impress....what would he do once he's relaxed in a relationship?? Shows real lack of respect to the restaurant staff and other customers and you. Would put me right off.

MrsAnon6 · 14/07/2026 20:07

I can see why he’s single.

Cyclebabble · 14/07/2026 20:03

Horrible entitled behaviour. I would not feel comfortable going on a third date.

Meteorite87 · 14/07/2026 20:00

Bobcurlygirl · 14/07/2026 19:15

God no.. Bin him.
He will be throwing food on the floor and expecting you to mop up... Huge red flags

I'd not seen your post before my initial reply. I was thinking generally but your more literal transference from while out to at home is most likely.

Meteorite87 · 14/07/2026 19:56

Pinkflamingo10 · 14/07/2026 14:05

There wouldn’t be a 3rd date for me

Likewise @Pinkflamingo10
Straight off he has no manners, poor immediate impression there. His fake apology just adds to his "Wanker!" factor.

It shows also that he does not care about creating extra work for people @Magnesiun On that date it was a waitress, further into a relationship it would be you.
You're fair in being put off by that.

SatsumaDog · 14/07/2026 19:55

I wouldn’t be seeing him again. If he did this in public on a second date, I would be worried what he would do next. It’s not just disrespectful, it has a really nasty edge to it.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 14/07/2026 19:48

He's an absolute asshole.

Why didn't you call him on it then and there?
Walk away?

Dump and block.

It's a bit concerning you aren't sure about this.

Isometimeswonder · 14/07/2026 19:40

You need to ask?!
