AIBU to be put off after he poured wine on the floor?

2nd date, sat in restaurant and we each had a glass of wine. He commented that he wasn’t keen on the wine and said he’d get a soft drink next time. I finished my drink and he had half of his glass left so I said I was going to get another drink and did he want to get a soft drink now or was he going to finish his wine. He picked up the glass, tipped the wine onto the floor (!!!!!!) and said “finished” and laughed. Several people saw him do it. I was mortified and said “did you really just tip that onto the floor??” And he acted like he was a bit embarrassed but laughed and said he didn’t like it. Waitress came across, noticed the puddle on the floor and he laughed and said “sorry about that” whilst looking at me like he was expecting me to laugh.

after the date he messaged me saying he’d had a good time and asked if I had and I replied “I’m still processing the sight of someone purposely spilling half a glass of wine onto a restaurant floor….” And he replied “still on that? Seriously? 😂”

am I over reacting?? It’s really put me off

Yeah - I disagree with letting men know how to do a better job fooling the next woman. Let them show their true selves and enable women to make better dating decisions.

I also think he deserves nothing.

Edited

Agreed

Hard disagree, he needs to be told exactly why he's being dumped, otherwise he'll just blame her for being 'weird' and not reflect. He needs to give his head a wobble.

Red flag. Stay away. If he can act like that in public just think of what he is capable of behind closed doors

I'd have gone to the bar paid my share of the bill and left without looking back. and blocked him as soon as I was safe in a taxi or my car

Agree.
Shark cage moment.

No one with any standards would want to be associated with anyone who would behave like that.

MNTouristhere · 16/07/2026 10:05

Tell him exactly why and then block him

NightOwlNutter · 16/07/2026 09:30

He obviously needs an eye test if he is pouring wine on the floor.

Seriously major red flags - ditch the dodo and do not look back!

MyRubyFox · 16/07/2026 09:27

Immature, disrespectful and slightly aggressive. I would ditch him.

Deboragh · 16/07/2026 09:12

JHound · 14/07/2026 14:32

I don’t normally approve of ghosting but this man deserves an unexplained block. Juvenile, arrogant and deliberately creating a mess for a low paid worker to deal with.

When somebody shows you who they are….

It was nice of him to get his big red flag out so early in the courtship 🚩

He’s a massive bellend. In the bin with this one.

Weird comment. (Yours)

Don't be an idiot, it was a comment about the guy acting like a child and you know it 🙄

If that's best behaviour early on ( 2nd date) then I wouldn't be sticking around for the long term version! Throw this one back!

WTAF!! 😱
Really not sure why you even need confirmation that this is total undisputed dickhead behaviour! 🙄

Todayismyfavouriteday · 16/07/2026 04:49

I'd never see him again.

user1492757084 · 16/07/2026 03:42

Response ...

Second date showed you to be arrogant.
Sorry. No future in seeing you again.

Best of luck.

@Magnesiun are you going to update?

I was wondering this as well. The thread is going on 17 pages and the OP hasn’t returned.

theodoretrout · 16/07/2026 03:29

Useful to consider places like restaurants or airports as laboratories of human behaviour. A metric that has never let me down is to take very seriously the way people act in these places, especially if a person is set to be come an important one in your life.

I recall my son told me he had a date with someone who talked to a waitress like a piece of dirt. My suspicious were later borne out.

You're very lucky that you've got such an early warning before you've become more deeply attached and entangled. I would say run and don't look back.

How does this suggest being a paedophile?!!! That is not at all how it comes across or is meant and it's meaning is well known. I think you have the problem here I'm afraid.

Hell no, red flag, no third date. That entitlement and indication of what he thinks is appropriate behaviour (& what he thinks of hospitality workers who are some of our least rewarded but hardest workers would put me right off)
