Personally I’m on the fence

I only know of the actress. Do know a Kyria though which I like.

Saz12 · 12/07/2026 23:32

I think a lot of "K" names have Kardashian undertones.

But some names sound beautiful in one accent but awful in another. I think it sounds bad in my accent, so I strongly dislike it.

thinkofsomethingdifferent · 12/07/2026 23:27

My daughter had 2 in her year (she’s 17). Both were the school bullies. Youngest now in secondary and I don’t hear the name mentioned.

pinkdelight · 12/07/2026 23:26

It’s not common itself but it’s v similar to a lot of K names that are. Whereas Lyra is lovely and doesn’t have that issue.

lavenderrosedaisy · 12/07/2026 23:25

I don’t think of it as ‘common’. I much prefer Kaiya though and not sure why as very similar!

InterIgnis · 12/07/2026 23:21

Yes.

SquashPenguin · 12/07/2026 23:20

It’s a horrible name sorry.

Needmorelego · 12/07/2026 23:18

I think it's a nice pretty name.
I hate the word "chavvy" though.
Disgusting word.

GotALionInMyPocket · 12/07/2026 23:16

I prefer Keira.

emptynestling · 12/07/2026 23:03

Only Kyra I know is 60, American, pronounces it Keira and isn’t a chav 🤷‍♀️

DoAWheelie · 12/07/2026 22:47

I'd assume she had a sibling called Aiden or similar.

RaraRachael · 12/07/2026 22:45

I live in a place where loads of children are given made up names beginning with K so I'd put it with those.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 12/07/2026 22:44

Kyra isn't a rough or chavvy name.
If you like it then put it on your list

Hadenough32 · 12/07/2026 22:43

When I was a nursery nurse 10 years ago I only ever came across two Kyras. Lovely kids but yes from very chavvy families. Still think it's rare enough that it can be whatever you make it.

Charmdefensive · 12/07/2026 22:42

I think of the actress Kyra Sedgwick (Kevin Bacon's wife) so not really chavvy but these days a lot of K names have a chavvy or Kardashian feel.

I'd go for Keira.

ColdAsAWitches · 12/07/2026 22:42

The actress Kyra Sedgwick is the only one if that name I've heard of. I don't think it's common enough to be common!

Katemax82 · 12/07/2026 22:42

The only girl I knew with that name was from an incredibly rough family

Bushmillsbabe · 12/07/2026 22:41

My view on a name can link to people I know with that name. There are 2 of them in DD's year if you are talking about the name sounding like 'Kai- rar' - both are bossy 'mean girl' types, dress much older than their peers and apparently quite disruptive. But if it's more 'keer- rah' then I know a couple of lovely people with that name.

GreenMarigold · 12/07/2026 22:40

I’ve never come across it

Lilyhatesjaz · 12/07/2026 22:39

I have never met anyone with that name so maybe not that common.

Lmnop22 · 12/07/2026 22:39

Sorry but it’s awful

Tinmanwalkedpastwindeh · 12/07/2026 22:38

Yes it sounds very chavvy

Name101019 · 12/07/2026 22:37

I like it but dh is making me think it’s common

OP posts:
CharlotteSometimes1 · 12/07/2026 22:37
