I know there have probably been other threads asking this, but really .... why?

Why would you say he is a "man of the people?"'(Public school educated stockbroker / multi millionaire)

Genuinely, what appeals about him?

If you voted Brexit, have you forgotten that he resigned from public office that day after his Leave campaign won?

It's an anonymous forum, so please be honest.

I doubt anyone can stop boats, what they will do is to stop the benefits.

Stopping the benefits would be illegal so no he won't do that.

I doubt Reform voters are that bright. It's all about the 'boat' people to Reform voters.

This!!! And no one will convince me otherwise!

5128gap · 10/07/2026 21:16

Yes. I never understand this. Most people committed to a political stance are happy to say why. I've been called stupid, plus other insults for my views, but I don't care, because I think those saying it are wrong.
Reform supporters are everywhere when it comes to criticising other political stances, especially 'lefties', pretty aggressively too. Yet when it comes to holding the floor and sharing their own, they suddenly turn into these nervous little souls scared the nasty women will call them thickos.

And THIS is the kind of thing I am talking about. Snide, thinly-veiled attacks and mocking, and piss-taking. And that's before any Farage fans have said anything.

And you wonder why people who support Reform/Farage don't want to come onto threads like this and speak up? 🙄

(As I said, I am NOT a fan of Reform/Farage myself!)

But this doesn't make sense. What's different about him that you believe he will stop the boats? Why do you believe he's different to Labour and the Conservatives?

Do you realise you aren't making sense or backing up your beliefs with anything?
I mean, I could

tell you im going to wake up a size 10 tomorrow. And I could say I will. But one look at me and you'd know that's a load of shit.
Farage saying he'll stop the boats is a load of shit too. Because there's no policy, nothing to explain how.

Just because he says something doesn't make it true...exactly like me.

Edited

But who else are they going to vote for? No one else says the things they want to hear so they might as well vote for him.

Also if it wasn't for him then Labour wouldn't even try to stop the boats would they?

KatiePricesKnickers · 10/07/2026 21:43

Andy Burnham today made a speech about supporting Palestine. Where did that come from? The Muslim vote? Who told him to make that speech? What the fuck has it got to do with his remit or the Labour manifesto?

Shit like that is why people will vote Reform.
Burnham has got off to a terrible start, he’s not even PM and he’s trying to appease the far left.

Cheese55 · 10/07/2026 21:42

lightseeker · 10/07/2026 20:30

He won't be able to stop the boats though will he? Why do they believe him, just because he says this?

No he won't be able to stop the boats but he says they will 'just turn them back to France ' which we can't do as that would be illegal. He is the only one who pretends it isn't. People believe that.

If you need all your past comments to be put forward as evidence before someone takes your words and responds, then maybe you need to temper your posts?

As if anyone is going to research someone's past comments before posting a response to one. Give over.

And maybe you need to stop telling other posters what they can post on MN.

I'm a bit fed up of the 'head girls' on MN thinking they rule the roost.

Perhaps people are sick of being called 'thick' whenever the thought of them having opposing views comes up and so vote for him just to piss the likes of you who call them 'not all that bright' off?

Put it this way: anyone who votes for an actual political candidate, who if elected will have real power that will affect real people’s lives, just to ‘piss people off’, is not somebody who is making the best use of the intelligence they have.

There is a current epidemic of violence against women and girls, rapists and murderers are being let out of prison in a few weeks, well before their time is served and men with hundreds of thousands of child abuse images are routinely given zero time behind bars.

All under Labour and the Tories.

They are all a shitshow. The whole fucking lot of them. Reform are just another iteration of the same.

Yes I understand that, but they take it one further by voting against legislation designed to tackle violence against women and girls, because they don't see it as a problem. Prisons are overrun so to them these crimes don't matter. These crimes aren't serious enough to them to be punishable by fines, prison time, etc.

That's what they're voting for. People who think violence against women and girls isn't big enough of an issue to even make illegal. It doesn't affect men, so it isn't a problem. Vote Reform!

I don't think that he will be able to do it because of the legal challenges, but he has said that he will and people need hope, so they vote for him

Who else are the going to vote for? The Tories and Labour have both proved that they can't do it.

Anyone voting Reform should be disgusted with themselves, as they are voting for the legislation of stalking, harassment, drink spiking, and posting intimate images of women online without their consent.

Any woman, man, parents of girls or boys should hang their head in shame for supporting such a vile party. It's just communicating to their daughter, "it's perfectly okay if a man spikes your drink". It's saying to your son "you have every right to upskirt girls". It's saying that as a woman you don't care if this happens to you or other women. It's saying that as a man you think you should have a right to do those heinous things.

Regardless of any of their other policies, this should be reason enough to not even consider voting for them.

I cannot stand him. I'm just pointing out that people are sick of being called 'thick' for having opposing views and so are likely to vote for him just to piss of the people calling them thick. Maybe if you just stop calling people thick for having opposing views this wouldn't be an issue. It always seems to be the 'be kind' people that are calling other people 'thick' so maybe you are not as kind as you think you are.

But why do you think he can “stop the boats” and how? Lots of very clever, committed people hve thought long and hard about this so do you really think a man who is more interested in making money for himself than representing his constituents will do what may others can’t?

I genuinely want to understand the thought process ( even though I like to think I’d punch farage in the face if I met him) so I could help people he has fooled understand and find their way back to mainstream politics.

I doubt anyone can stop boats, what they will do is to stop the benefits.

plus they are being stopped right? They’re hugely reduced

What I’m worried about is what they’ll move onto. Even if no one can “stop the boats” the uk is less and less attractive for migration every day and it won’t be long until they basically stop because even people who pay people smugglers would rather go elsewhere.

then what will he bang on about?

i genuinely think this is why they started on the Sikhs recently- they’re living up the next groups for the firing line, they know they don’t have much longer until migrants and Muslim hate is saturated
