Fucking entitled men and their bullshit comments

So sick of men who feel as though they have the right to make uninvited, unhelpful, unnecessary comments.

Today driving - went to drive past a car on left that I thought was parked. As I went to drive past, I suddenly realised he wasn't parked, he was just stopped. I waved to apologise and started to reverse back behind him.

However, white van man then drove straight up behind the stopped car - even though he could see I was starting to reverse. Which then prevented me reserving. He then shouted at me 'you've got kids in the car you know!''

Seriously like wtf? Just why?? Why feel the need to shout?? Why feel the need to try and shame me?? Why feel the need to attack my competence as a mother??

Yes I made a mistake, acknowledged it to other driver (who was absolutely fine btw as they realised what I'd done) and was attempting to rectify it.

Made me so so angry because I can guarantee if I was a man he would not have done this.

Just a couple of months ago I was reserving into a space. Another white van man pulled up beside me to give me a lecture, tell me that I was never going to get in there etc etc. I told him to mind his own business and am proud to say I actually managed it perfectly fine!!!!!

So many incidents of men doing this over the years (not all related to driving...but a lot are!)

Just why do some men feel the need to do this?

Or maybe your mum at age 66 shouldn’t be driving…

You are aware aren't you that the retirement age is now 67? 66 isn't too old to drive or anything like it. And I'd hazard a guess that 60 something women are far better and safer drivers than the vast majority of men of any age and definitely out perform any male driver under the age of 25 by far!

lilkitten · 12/07/2026 20:35

I'm definitely past taking this stuff from men. Recently changed cars, in-between I borrowed a car, an automatic which is so complicated there's a cheat sheet in the car. Parked outside my house, trying to get it in reverse but took a few seconds, and a guy I've never seen before says about how there's tonnes of space. After me stopping and saying "excuse me?" as a chance for him to retract it, he said a couple more comments. I parked it, got out, and got in his face. He must have been about 8" taller than me but he looked scared. I'm not sure a woman has confronted him. Thankfully he's a contractor who's done and gone now. Haven't done this in a while but I have a tendency to confront them, and they always back up a bit like they don't expect a woman to retaliate.

What a condescending remark. 66 is not even the retirement age now!

Gettingbysomehow · 11/07/2026 20:13

Some guy tried to mansplain to me how to put air in my tyres once at a local garage. I told him I didnt understand the process and stood there as he filled my tyres for me. I said thanks and drove off.
Its one dirty task I hate doing. I cant believe he actually fell for that one 😂im not a pretty young thing. Im 64.

You handled it well. I would have told him to 'fuck off and keep his opinions to himself'. I have zero tolerance for male bullshit anymore though. 🤣

Same, a smile and ‘fuck you’ usually works well.

There is, there’s the Ken 😆

Lol, I guess so 😅

dairydebris · 11/07/2026 17:00

You made a driving error and he pointed it out, not even that rudely.
I don't think you can extrapolate anything about entitled men from this incident. In fact you were the entitled one taking up the road.
Just say 'sorry, I know' and grimace. You were the one in error.

"Fucking entitled women and their bullshit comments about men"

Doesn't sound so great the other way around does it? And yet there's no male equivalent of "the Karen".

There is, there’s the Ken 😆

Pessismistic · 11/07/2026 16:55

Because a lot of men think women drivers are not road worthy they are just bullies who think they are better than us in all ways I bet they would not like it if a man did this to a wife or daughter of theirs. Op you did the right thing ignore the bullies. I’ve seen grown men nearly have fights over this type of behaviour you kept your cool I would ignore them if it happens again.

Laurmolonlabe · 11/07/2026 15:31

Sexual imcompetence making them feel they should belittle women at every opportunity?

Honestly I experience sooo many horribly aggressive male drivers these days 🙁 some are really angry because I won’t drive over the speed limit in London … there are cameras everywhere ffs! One man was so angry when I indicated and overtook a bus that he tailgated me so closely he drove into my bumper - he was waaaay back when I indicated I was moving to overtake and sped up to attempt to cut me off. I had a taxi driver screaming at me because I mistakenly indicated to turn left … but couldn’t when I realised it was a bus lane. It did not inconvenience or affect him AT ALL! It truly seems that they just want to intimidate and be hateful. I have been driving over forty years. I’ve never had an accident. To my knowledge I’ve never caused an accident. I’m careful but not over cautious or nervous … I just believe that road rage is become so much more prevalent.

I hate London driving, the circular roads are full of people doing this, it is really noticeable these days compared to 20 years ago. So much tailgating. I live in the SE and the traffic is pretty horrendous but it's not the same level of aggression as London.

Are you suggesting a 66 year old is likely to be too old to drive? Do you realise that that is less than the retirement age?

I don't think the PP was suggesting any such thing.

But the poster they were replying to, felt it was necessary to mention her mother's age for some reason.

And the age of the woman who suggested she put her hazards on?

pouletvous · 11/07/2026 11:36

People who randomly stop and don’t indicate cause havoc

Patricia69 · 11/07/2026 09:16

Because men are all assholes

TheWickerWoman · 11/07/2026 09:02

Not driving on the road but this reminds me of when my daughter pulled into a disabled space at Starbucks (she’s got a legitimate disabled badge).

older guy got out of his car and stood filming her with a smirk on his face, she got out and said ‘are you alright mate. Are you the council’. At that point she’d pulled her badge out of glove box and was displaying it but he had to style it out then and carried on. His son, then got out and came over to apologise profusely. She said to the son, it’s ok I know I don’t look disabled, thank you for apologising... but that man would not back down and apologise. He just went back to his own car. She gave a little speech about reasons why people can have badges etc and went on her way.

I am going to say here, younger generations never bat an eye lid but people (always men) of a certain age tend to be ready to come over look for a badge or say something about her using the space. Even with a badge.

PatB01 · 11/07/2026 08:41

Hon, you know how many men are intimidated by competent women - I normally just wave my little finger at these idiots

Tamtim · 11/07/2026 06:41

It’s not all men, but my golly gosh, it’s always bloody men. It’s amazing, as women, how we’re usually able to see, apologise and rectify our mistakes, but men just feel the need to shout or berate. It’s always such a shock when a man actually offers help or helpful advice without judgement. What does it take to be a kind, decent and understanding human?

Buzzingabout · 11/07/2026 03:17

I remember a few years back I was reversing into a space at the doctor’s surgery car park. An elderly man with white hair and a pink face jumped out iof his car and started waving me back and giving signals and interfering. I said that I had got my licence in 1980 and knew how to drive and to go away. His wife rolled down the window and indignantly told me that he was only trying to help. Ah me.

mamajong · 11/07/2026 03:16

Sherararara · 09/07/2026 21:47

This. Not really about entitled men is it? It’s about being called out for dangerous driving. You went to overtake a car without confirming the oncoming lane was clear.

Agree with this and I have seen men call out other men and women call out women. Its not helpful or nice when you acknowledge a mistake and still get shit for it, but also you were in the wrong. Shake it off and move on

Because he's obviously never ever made a mistake in his entire life. Twat. Honestly, the more I hear about men and their shitty behaviour, the more I am so glad that I have given up on them.

Hollybollyhughes · 10/07/2026 19:06

It happens but to me with Audi drivers and BMW's, why? A hateful git of a driver, I was going to work around 5.30am. Dual carriageway 50 mph, which my little car does easily off the traffic lights. Dick head Audi behind couldn't stand a little car in front, over took erratically then killed a jackdaw. Could have slowed down but chose to kill this beautiful bird. Absolute dick head.

There's an element of total arse holes who drive as if your life or anyone else's doesn't matter. Don't start me on the texting at the wheel.

Another one of these. I'm amazed how some of my fellow women cope in this world 😂
