I told my friend about my crush on Postman Pat and she suggested he was gay. AIBU or is she?

I confessed to a friend that I had a bit of a crush on Postman Pat. He’s not the most conventionally attractive man, but he has a calming way about him, and is clearly a capable problem solver and provider. He’ll also have a good public sector pension, and security is a big plus for me.

I mentioned this to a friend and she said I had “no chance”. She said Pat was a middle-aged single man with a cat, and I should “read between the lines”.

AIBU or is my friend just jealous?

Most of you are probably too young but I rather liked Captain Scarlet - he was kind of part mysteron (who were the baddies) which maybe explains why i have always gone for the wrong'uns in real life !

My first boyfriend was Captain Scarlet 😍

And mine was Scott Tracey!

George Fouracres (SNL) did a hilarious Postman Pat riff in his R4 show “Daphne Sounds Expensive”

There used to be a sweaty dub of postman pat called Boro Pat or something. He said all the kids in the village were his if I remember rightly.

Sweary blood autocorrect

He Man was very preachy and a hypocrite.

OK, kids! Violence is always bad! Except when I have to do it!

Reminds me of Optimus Prime in that sense. Just a massive pompous windbag.

Will no one think of Fireman Sam who had an affair with Dilys Price and produced the gorgeous Norman?

morselover69 · 11/07/2026 11:04

hands off. he’s mine

My husband proudly tells anyone his first (and ongoing i think) crush was the Cadburys bunny (was it caramel? Miriam Margoles voiced her i think) make it make sense!

A LOT of men had a huge crush on Miriam as the pious Aunt in Black Adder. 🤣

OMG yes! Definitely fancied him. Also was rather partial to King Triton (little mermaid) - now he had a banging body for an older man. Strong and assertive. A bit oppressive when he found out that Ariel wanted to party with the humans but then came good at the end.

King Triton was a hot piece of tail. My favourite was Kokoum from Pochahontas though. So handsome and much more interesting than John Smith.

He-Man has that Gym Bro look. I bet he eats only broccoli and plain chicken breasts, talks about his weight training split ad nauseum and is probably on steroids. That's not boyfriend material.

This made me laugh a lot, back when I was on Twitter.

You have to understand that the programmes were made a long time ago. Pat is probably in his 70s by now.

Epic thread, thanks for all the laughs 👏🏻

He-Man: No, the hairstyle is unacceptable and he also doesn’t seem to have any body hair which is very off-putting for me.

I can’t believe nobody has yet mentioned the fox in the lead role of the Disney Robin Hood that came out sometime in the 70s. He absolutely was the fox 😍

I just not feeling He-Man. He just doesn’t seem very sexual. He’s got a great body but he’s too pure, too nice. I also think he could get a bit incel-like as he gets older.

Maybe it’s his hair? It’s one of those dodgy 70s square cuts, looks like his mum did it.

According to some people, he was also partial to a winkie...

Was he now? Probably a bit of stinkie as well then.

I fully agree. Fox Robin Hood was very rakish.

He-Man looks like he'd be a tedious bore. And what was with the pink jerkin preferred by Prince Adam? Where the hell did he get leather that colour?!

There was a great Mitchell and Webb radio sketch a few years ago - Robert Webb was He-Man/Adam going to his GP with back spasms from holding aloft the Sword of Greyskull too often. After that he was going to the vet to get Battlecat spayed.

I wouldn't have minded a few stolen hours in the company of Mendoza off of Mysterious Cities of Gold.

You could be blindsided about these things. I never expected the same from Tinky Winky but it is what it is.

I always assumed Tinky Winky had a drink problem, not sure why. Maybe just general demeanour.

Apologies if someone's already pointed it out, CBA to read the entire thread first...

He Man ?? No way . How any could fancy him with his Richard the Third blond hair bob . Skeletor , now that's the one . Bit annoying with the raspy voice and gloomy demeanor but I reckon he's a great shag .
