Is this a weird present? Be honest please!

I think the fact that you put so much thought into it is a great gift to her. I’d really appreciate that.
I remember a very old friend came to stay at my house and for my birthday she gave me a small bottle of Body Shop Rose EDT. I’ve never liked rose perfumes and frankly it was obvious it was off the ‘re-gift’ shelf she has. She’s quite a wealthy person.
Gifts really do reveal a persons ability to notice and cherish their friends, so I think you’re friend will be very heartwarmed.

Its lovely. Im not hugely to horses but I would love that. My dad found an old horseshoe many years ago and he lovingly nailed it on to his garden shed. We now have it nailed onto our shed. They are meant to be lucky, of course !! 😀

I think that if, when you give it to her, you explain about horseshoes being a good luck charm here, and tell her that you hope it will remind her of her time in Ireland because of the equestrian tradition and the local superstition of horseshoes being good luck, then it will be a lovely gift.

My old neighbours were Albanian and they gave me Nazar eye charm as a thank you gift once; I thought it was a really nice gesture and I liked the fact that it was like getting a little piece of Albania.

I always thought that they are displayed that way up because otherwise your "luck runs out".

One of the most precious things I have ever been gifted is a horseshoe from my late grandfather's workshop (from one of his horses) when I bought my house. It is proudly displayed over the door of my house upright.

I love the modern design in your pics. I would probably print off a small note explaining the tradition to go with it and a picture of the horse it came from... just in case!

It sounds a great present idea but the horseshoes in the picture were more blingy than I'd expect for someone into rural Irish pursuits! But you know her tastes best.

Ithink she'll love it, very thoughtful though I agree I don't like the bling. I'd just shine it up, maybe add the ribbon for hanging.

I bought an old worn horseshoe in a fair recently (wanted to support a local guy who looks down on his luck). I would be thrilled for that present! Lovely idea!

I think it’s charming and personal - it reflects something of her, and something of you, and something of your shared context, and a wish for her to be happy and lucky.

I am a sucker for presents like this that are symbolic souvenirs of a friendship and a time of life spent together. I would probably tear up if someone gave this to me as a leaving present.

Ribbon in the colours of the Irish flag or just green would be lovely - as others said white is a bit weddingy.
