AIBU with my reaction to DP’s humiliating TikTok?

I have had 4 different friends message me today to say they saw a video which included my partner on TikTok. There’s a local account which always posts videos of interviews with the public and businesses particularly people on nights out and drunk. DP watched the England game in a bar so was out really late, and was interviewed on the street after. Everyone was really jubilant, the person filming asked him “after such a long night, do you have anything left in the tank” and he replied “that’s for me to know and the missus to find out when I’m home” to a load of laughter.

I was asleep with our DS and up early so I obviously wasn’t waiting up for him. I’ve told him I don’t see the funny side and he has just said he was absolutely plastered, really buzzing after the match and got carried away so I should just laugh it off. Am I wrong to still find it offensive?

I would of laughed and found it funny. Harmless joke!

Peterkin1010 · 08/07/2026 17:35

Maybe not tbe most tactful of statements but hardly a relationship wrecker. . And if he's apologised then you either accept it or you don't. No good holding a grudge..either put up or shut up !

BauhausOfEliott · 08/07/2026 12:59

Oh for god's sake, grow up.

I can’t get over the cringe of them having the mental image of me doing the no pants dance to be honest!

I'm fairly sure your friends already know you have sex, and if you think they're picturing it happening based on a joke your husband made, you have an incredibly inflated notion of your importance in other people's lives.

They saw a joke on TikTok, laughed and then moved on, because nobody is anywhere near as invested in this as you seem to imagine.

Your point is a valid one.

My DH is not the type to joke in this particular way but it's obviously tongue in cheek & a funny harmless quip. He sounds very quick witted & couldn't have been that drunk to blurt out this reply. At least he had his wife in mind 😂

You saying "no pants dance" is far worse than anything he said 😭

THIS!!!

fivepastmidnight · 08/07/2026 11:19

I see absolutely nothing wrong with what he said. He basically said it's none of your business in a jokey way.

PollyBell · 08/07/2026 11:01

Humiliating? Which bit? i see a bit of a lame joke at worse

Kokonimater · 08/07/2026 10:54

It’s a compliment. And funny.

ilovepixie · 08/07/2026 10:12

It’s pretty funny.

Abyzou · 08/07/2026 10:10

You're the weird one here, with the 'no pants dance' (vom). No one is imagining you two having sex after hearing his comment, jesus.

It was a benign joke. Not especially clever and not especially funny, but hardly offensive or a big deal.

blutoo · 08/07/2026 09:56

You are not wrong to still find it offensive. Absolutely your call to feel how you feel about this.

However I think your partner meant no harm to you from what you have written here: You did quote him as saying he replied “that’s for me to know and the missus to find out when I’m home" which I read as he gave a response that tells the interviewer that he thinks it is a private matter too.

Others may not agree with me and that's fine.

Daftypants · 08/07/2026 09:52

I’d roll my eyes , call my husband a plonker and leave it at that .
( we are old now and we don’t drink so husband is never going to be interviewed when he’s drunk these days )

Saeris · 08/07/2026 09:45

He had a few drinks and made a silly comment - its not a big deal. He didnt say "i'm going home to shag me wife"

godmum56 · 08/07/2026 09:20

I'd say to him everyone gets one free pass for stupidity and he's had his.

notacooldad · 08/07/2026 09:19

I hate bloke banter but I honestly cant see a problem with this.
I would have had a laugh with the people messaging and replied ' well I found out when he got back!!!" or something daft.

Were these people close friends or trying to stir the pot or embarrass you?

I can’t get over the cringe of them having the mental image of me doing the no pants dance to be honest!
Say what? 😆 🤣 😂
No one is going to think that and I'm having a wild guess here but seeing he is your dh they are going to know you have a shag now and then.
' no pants dance" is way more cringe than a drunken comment. You have wrote that sober, I presume!

PurpleReindeer2 · 08/07/2026 09:13

Lighten up OP. It was quite funny.

ClovisWrites · 08/07/2026 09:01

Bit cringe but hardly offensive to anyone.

In the main, he is I would say. I think it’s that this was so public and seen by my friends which is irksome.

It was almost a compliment, could have been much worse.

Weeks76 · 07/07/2026 23:00

I appreciate the over whelming view here and I’m not going to argue it, I suppose I need to get over it. Thanks for the brutal honesty, I’m going to drop out now.

good on you op. Now brace for his comments when Eng knock out Norway, and when they win the WC. Better still get on that tiktok after the next Eng win and say you hope h nails you this time because wasnt up to it after the Mexico game...😂

YANBU to find it offensive.

If he’s married to you and loves you, he should know that crosses a boundary FOR YOU, even if others might find it funny.

IMHO, it’s bad enough to be pissed on Tik Tok. Why not simply avoid the Tik Toker? But even worse to bring you into it. And it’s the bravado and possessiveness, rather than the sex joke, per se. The ‘joke’ that he’ll go home and expect to have sex with you.

To each their own, but I wouldn’t be attracted to a man prone to those sort of ‘jokes’.

Edited

Do your friends not realise that you have sex with him?

It's a nothing comment and actually quite sharp for a pissed man on the spur of the moment.

Some of the things you said on here op are cringey more than what he said.
