Dh didn’t leave me any water or drinks

I was really ill yesterday and especially last night, lots of vomiting etc (sorry tmi)
We live abroad and it’s extremely hot, we don’t drink the tap water here.
The bedroom was a real mess this morning-sick bucket full, duvet yucky, he quietly said my name to wake me up and that he was going to work.
I feel horrendous, so weak and there’s zero water and drinks. I’m trying to set up
a delivery service to see if they can deliver
Does anyone think this is a bit shitty to leave me with no drinks. Feel so dehydrated

What about boiling water and sticking it in the fridge?

Boiling it doesn't necessarily make it safe to drink. It doesn't remove toxins.

AmethystDeceiver · 07/07/2026 12:03

Some of you are either deliberately argumentative for fun, or just have a ridiculously low bar! "Should have used your words" "he probably had no sleep either" etc etc... what is wrong with you people 😂

I would fully expect the person who loves me enough to commit to a lifetime together to ensure my basic needs are met if I've been up all night puking! That is what husbands and wives do, it's the point of it all. Spouses, partners, lovers, friends - whatever the relationship is, you look after the one you love when they can't look after themselves. Some of you need to raise your standards.

@Footballscominghomehey I'm sorry he was shit this time, hopefully it's not a trend

CoralOP · 07/07/2026 12:01

If you were out of it until her left this morning he didn't know you drank all 3 litres of water surely? Sounds like you are wallowing in self pity and trying to start an argument with him.

Feeeeesh · 07/07/2026 11:59

Please read what I write and remember it.

The next time he’s ill, give him the exact same care he’s given you.

Also, don’t get a pet or have children with him.

ClawsandEffect · 07/07/2026 11:58

Eyesopenwideawake · 07/07/2026 09:48

Surely if you can get up for a delivery you can boil a kettle and cool the water?

If you are in Europe the tap water is safe.

Not always it isn't. I lived in Spain in an area where the tap water wasn't drinkable.

Isn't this the whole point of forums? The OP is trying to understand whether her feelings are valid.

That is shocking! Is he normally so lacking in empathy? Or is he absolutely run off his feet?

How can you deduce he is lacking in empathy when you don't even know what time it is for the OP and therefore how long it is has been since he left for work?!

What about boiling water and sticking it in the fridge?

hahabahbag · 07/07/2026 11:49

Why not boil water and refrigerate it . Can you drink the water though - most of Europe is fine from a hygiene standpoint even if it doesn’t taste good

mochimoons · 07/07/2026 11:47

I find it hard to believe that almost everyone on this thread wouldn't have been at least a bit miffed if their husband hadn't checked whether they had what they needed while they were ill.

It doesn't really matter whether he knew the water had run out or whether the OP hadn't stocked up beforehand - a considerate partner would have checked.

And I don't believe many people would genuinely be fine with someone showing so little consideration when they've been that unwell. The bar is really on the floor if people don't expect this tiny bit of consideration from their partner.

I do think it's carelessness rather than meanness or anything like that. But it's totally understandable the OP would be annoyed by it.

Footballscominghomehey · 07/07/2026 11:09

Rather than bringing the bath bin to a more comfortable setting of your bed?

I'll admit it's not at all comfortable! It's the diarrhoea that worries me. If I have d&v it usually pours out of both ends at the same time! So I do need the sick bucket, but only while sitting on the loo!

tara66 · 07/07/2026 11:42

BOIL a kettle of tap water and let it cool. Drink.

MajorProcrastination · 07/07/2026 11:39

OP, hope you feel better soon. It's a shame that he didn't offer you a drink or leave some by the side of the bed but I'd say that's likely to be from a place of carelessness and being in a rush rather than anything more sinister. Can you text him to say you're still ill and very thirsty so please can he bring some water home?

How come there's none in the house though? Is it normal that you run out?

You've never been so ill that there's no guarantee you'll get to the toilet in time? We use old ice cream boxes and they've saved countless sofas, carpets, beds, rugs etc from getting vommed on over the years. The sick gets poured into the loo.

SleepingStandingUp · 07/07/2026 11:32

Chenecinquantecinq · 07/07/2026 10:57

If you felt that bad you wold drink the tap water

if the water is unsafe to drink, it will make her more ill. how is that helpful? she isn't being a princess saying she wants store brought water made from the tears on mermaids. just that they don't drink the tap water in her country

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 07/07/2026 11:28

To give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he didn’t realise you’d already drunk three large bottles of water? So thought there were supplies?

Hope you can get some water sorted soon though

Why are some people always so desperate to nitpick and find irrelevant, inaccurate fault with the OP?
"You were vomiting in the incorrect place"
Sometimes you're so sick you can't keep going back and forth to the bathroom. You don't get enough warning, or it's so frequent you'd have to sleep on the bathroom floor, or it's coming out of both ends. Or like OP said, in too much pain to keep moving.

EarthlyNightshade · 07/07/2026 11:22

The comments and lack of empathy on this thread is shocking.

OP, if your DH is usually decent then this might just be an oversight, let him know when you can.

If it's typical of him, then it seems you've landed yourself with someone similar to half the dicks on this thread.

I hope you feel better soon.

WhatWouldMyMamaSay · 07/07/2026 11:22

Footballscominghomehey · 07/07/2026 11:10

It’s a bit far, i’m working myself up to go now, very slowly 😩

Where are you OP? Why can’t you just order some bottles of water on an app to keep you going until your husband is home?

Washingupdone · 07/07/2026 11:21

If you are in France and Germany you can drink water from the indoor taps

NotBluebutCerulean · 07/07/2026 11:15

Sincere sympathies OP, I have lived in ME, including time out in the desert. I have seen people made very ill and losing liquid both ends. It is very debilitating. The doctors always treated it as being serious.

Hoping you get some care soon.

Ladamesansmerci · 07/07/2026 11:15

What is wrong with people on here 😂

It's basic human decency to give a vomiting person in bed some water and see if they need anything. I would do this for a stranger, let alone my spouse.

Jamesblonde2 · 07/07/2026 11:14

Footballscominghomehey · 07/07/2026 11:11

? Yes i’m sat up now downstairs

So you can boil a kettle, put water in freezer/fridge. Empty sick bucket. Yes, he should have arranged some fluid, but you’re not completely incapable of you’ve managed to get out of bed.

igelkott2026 · 07/07/2026 11:14

Well I'd suggest that once you are better, you make sure there's a massive stockpile of water bottles and other drinks. Also, as you can get on MN, can't you ask your DH to arrange a delivery for you?

And I've also lain on the floor in the bathroom when feeling really ill. You're not going to do much sleeping anyway.
