Dh didn’t leave me any water or drinks

I was really ill yesterday and especially last night, lots of vomiting etc (sorry tmi)
We live abroad and it’s extremely hot, we don’t drink the tap water here.
The bedroom was a real mess this morning-sick bucket full, duvet yucky, he quietly said my name to wake me up and that he was going to work.
I feel horrendous, so weak and there’s zero water and drinks. I’m trying to set up
a delivery service to see if they can deliver
Does anyone think this is a bit shitty to leave me with no drinks. Feel so dehydrated

It's bloody awful. I wonder what they're like in real life or do anonymous forums bring out the worst out in people.

I'm so sorry you've had this nastiness directed at you. You shouldn't have to put up with it when you're asking a simple question ❤️

I don’t understand it at all! Just why be awful

Thank you X

Ridiculous, isn’t it!

It was 3 1.5l bottles.

I have no idea how a couple can have such little water in the house. It just makes no sense.

OP said upthread that she is the one responsible for shopping so if she was out of action clearly the supplies haven’t been replenished.

She said she ‘dran 3 bottles of water last night’ ? 250ml bottle. ?500ml bottles. ?1500ml bottles If she lives somewhere that tap water is undrinkable then they were probably 5litre bottles… that’s what made her vomit! If it’s true!

Sending get well wishes to you both @Footballscominghomehey and @JulietteHasAGun , that you recover your strength quickly

I know only too well that sick, exhausted, dizzy feeling you're left with after a flare up of illness.

Take care and get plenty of rest💐

JulietteHasAGun · 08/07/2026 20:03

@Blueberries0761 @Footballscominghomehey thznks both for asking after me. Still feel awful to be honest. Was still being sick on Tuesday morning. Didn’t eat anything on Tuesday and barely kept fluids down. Haven’t been sick today but am weak and dizzy. Haven’t eaten until a slice of toast a couple of hours ago and feel really nauseous again. I’ve lost 3kg though 😁

This. A couple of posters upthread made the same mistake, telling OP she was drinking too much water. Kidney stones are caused by not drinking enough water and small stones can be effectively passed by drinking enough to flush them.

I don’t know about ‘caused’ by — I seem to have inherited a tendency to get them from my father. But it’s true that I had my worst ever attack when DS was a small baby and I probably wasn’t looking after myself well or drinking enough. What I mainly remember was, after I’d had a shot of painkiller and was waiting for a scan, that I hoped they would keep me in overnight even if it was only on a trolley in the corridor. DS wasn’t a sleeper…

That was almost 15 years ago and I still remember the name of the doctor who gave me a shot of strong painkiller.

OP said upthread quite a while ago that she drank three 1.5 litre bottles of water. And the medical advice for kidney stones is to drink at least three to four litres of water per day to try to flush the smaller stones. Kidney stones are actually caused by not drinking enough fluids.

I'm not a renal physician but I do apparently know more than you - when you're actively passing a kidney stone, the advice is to drink 2 to 3 litres of water a day.

I posted AFTER vomiting and general pain and passing out had calmed down, ok??

So you were feeling better by then?

And once you’ve had a kidney stone, you’re never casual about hydration ever again!

Gall10 · 08/07/2026 18:35

Probably still made her vomit! Water doesn’t go straight to kidneys… but if you’re a renal physician maybe you know better than me.

ThatLassFromLeeds · 08/07/2026 19:11

Oh, another time I was ill (vomiting) and he left me water and a bar of chocolate… as if I’m going to start eating chocolate when I’m sick! I had to explain that the best option might have been something I could nibble on, like a slice of bread, and he was genuinely confused as to why I wouldn’t want chocolate!

ThatLassFromLeeds · 08/07/2026 19:09

Oh, OP, I feel for you! My husband did similar when I had a really bad flu one time - I couldn’t walk, but he left me a tiny glass of water and no food, and went out for the day! It was awful. I was so thirsty, but couldn’t even get to the bathroom to drink from the tap.

I hope you feel much better soon!

But it makes no difference. She had sufficient cognitive function to post and discuss on MN. So how did she not have enough to speak to her husband?

It’ll be the pain from the stone which is making her vomit, not a stomach bug. 🤷‍♀️

This is so tedious. She was asleep when her husband came to check on her and then she was awake when she posted on Mumsnet 😂 hope this helps clear up the confusion.
