Dh didn’t leave me any water or drinks

I was really ill yesterday and especially last night, lots of vomiting etc (sorry tmi)
We live abroad and it’s extremely hot, we don’t drink the tap water here.
The bedroom was a real mess this morning-sick bucket full, duvet yucky, he quietly said my name to wake me up and that he was going to work.
I feel horrendous, so weak and there’s zero water and drinks. I’m trying to set up
a delivery service to see if they can deliver
Does anyone think this is a bit shitty to leave me with no drinks. Feel so dehydrated

As a kidney stone sufferer, I am alarmed that you have said you are in great pain from kidney stones. If that is ongoing today, you should see a doctor in case they cannot be passed at all and are causing your kidney to become infected by blocking outflow (and certainly be drinking at least 3 litres of clear fluids every day of your life to lessen the likelihood of them occurring in the first place). Do you have a bug or are you vomiting because of the pain. Are you able to pee normally?

A sick bucket? I don't think I've ever used one since I was a child. Anyway, I digress. It would have been nice if he'd left you something even a bottle of water. Or are you saying there's absolutely nothing to drink at all??

However, you need to get yourself up, empty your bucket, clean your teeth and wash your face which will help you feel better. You're going to have to get up to receive a delivery anyway.

Right OP, get yourself up and about because a stranger, with absolutely no empathy, on the internet said so 😂

HoraceCope · 07/07/2026 10:05

This will make you stronger, this is why women live longer

SemperIdem · 07/07/2026 10:05

It’s very thoughtless of him, at best.

I hope you’re feeling better soon, op.

Oh come on. That's just nasty.

NoSausage · 07/07/2026 10:04

How much water is there usually?

There is a big difference between DH seeing and taking the last bottle as he swans out the door leaving you with none, and him walking out with his already-prepared packed lunch and water and not thinking to check to see that you've drank e.g. three extra bottles overnight and now none are left.

If he woke you up though, couldn't you have said you drank all the water and could he leave his?

Because otherwise it sounds like you drank all the water overnight and now you're mad at him for there being no water even though he was sleeping while you drank it?

Notsodisney · 07/07/2026 10:03

Possible he didn't realise you drunk all the water?
If you are in GCC you can have water delivered within 30 min in most cities.

It’s just the bathroom bin with a bin liner in, find it quite odd that other people don’t have this by their bed when they’re very ill

I find it odd that if you live in a country where you can’t drink the water you (and DH) don’t always have a large stockpile of bottled and would ever be in a position to run out tbh. IDK if it was practical or even possible for DH to have gone to the shops before work but a delivery sounds like a good idea.

We did have three large bottles but I went through them all last night, was so thirsty

JulietteHasAGun · 07/07/2026 09:58

I’m as pooorly as you are OP so lots of sympathy. No way could I have made it to the bathroom in time half of last night so yes a sick bucket is in use.

dh has been a saint all night, he’s emptied the bucket, he’s cleaned the sink out and the bathroom floor when I made it that far once. I e got horrendous diarrhoea as well which thankfully I have made it to the loo in time for.

hes fetched me water, tissues, electrolytes, gone to the shop this morning for Imodium. And by the sounds of it hasn’t gone to work today. I can hear him downstairs. He was maybe worried I wouldn’t cope with the dogs seeing as at 7:30 I was nearly in tears saying I felt to weak to manage the stairs. Have just woken feeling a bit brighter and am hoping that the sips of electrolyte I’ve just had stay down. I feel so dehydrated and weak.

so yes I do think your dh could have done better.

Perhaps OP is looking for a bit of sympathy because she is feeling so poorly?
Unfortunately she has overestimated the capacity of some pp on MN to show kindness

Funchythesnowwoman · 07/07/2026 09:58

It's more than a bit shitty. It's nasty and mean.

JHound · 07/07/2026 09:56

I can only assume the first few messages have shitty partners.

You are absolutely not being unreasonable. He is shockingly uncaring.

CheeseyOnionPie · 07/07/2026 09:56

I’m sorry OP, you are not being at all unreasonable. Even if he did sleep in the other room he should have been concerned enough for you to make sure you had what you need. I hope you feel better. I’d remember this next time he is ill…

Honestly it seems more and more like marriage is an arrangement that is wholly beneficial to the man and is basically a scam for women.

The first few posts, what is wrong with you? Hope you get no sympathy when you have your next sick bug.

@Footballscominghomehey Hope you’re feeling better soon, if you haven’t done delivery yet get done rehydration sachets as well.

Yes it is shitty of your husband

There are no drinks at all in the entire house?

I drank three large water bottles last night
I have coffee or green tea, but just need cold water

AmandaHoldensLips · 07/07/2026 09:55

That is spectacularly shit partnering from your DH. I would (once I felt better) go pretty ballistic on that one.

What an unpleasant comment.

Often it's not possible to get up and reach the bathroom before vomiting.

Funny how it's OP who is ill but your sympathy is with her H.

He slept in the other room

Because I was in great pain with kidney stones, so have the bathroom bin next to my bed
