Male manager leaving gift ideas

Please I’m really struggling to find some
Gifts for my male line manager. He’s in his 40’s. Made redundant. I’m getting a nice bottle of wine but need other things to add to the collection. Please help. He’s been so lovely to me.

giftround voucher if it’s a gift from a group… so brilliantly easy.

My colleagues are saying the only criteria is to make the gifts as embarrassing as possible so he has to carry it on the bus and when he opens it in front of everyone! Not weird embarrassing but like I think they mean cringe. Like massive bouquet of flowers, balloons. What else can I add?

What horrible work friends you have. This man has been made redundant and they want to further tease him?

Where’s best place? M and S? Or maybe Waitrose - where would you go?

As I'm housebound I'd check both on the internet and local quality farm shops.

CardboardBoxesLily · 06/07/2026 20:00

Get him a card and be done with it. Work collections are a PITA.

youalright · 06/07/2026 20:00

Has he got any social media you can have a little stalk on see if he has any hobbies or interest.

EBearhug · 06/07/2026 19:57

Recent gifts for leavers - expensive bottle of rum - he was very into rum. A model-holding tool for someone who paints gaming figurines. Book of sugar-free jam recipes.

We did online collections and cards and i left the rest as cash/token they could use a code to access.

MadameMaxGoesler · 06/07/2026 19:48

Book token.

I’ve got him a really nice alcohol bottle worth just under 65 quid. The rest I’m not sure. Budget around 100

How about a Daunt books subscription? They will send home a book every other month for a year for £100 all curated to his tastes. Really lovely, thoughtful gift and can tailor it to his personal taste.

CocoPops39616 · 06/07/2026 19:17

Either John Lewis or cinema/coffee shop voucher so he can treat himself to a film or a coffee when he’s out and about

Giftideass · 06/07/2026 19:13

I know he likes coffee so any links to nice coffee gifts pls?

Ignore your stupid colleagues, the guy is being made redundant and he's been nice to you, get him a decent present.

This
don’t waste money on balloons and flowers

Ignore idiot colleagues with stupid money wasting embarrassing stuff.
Cheese, crackers, chutneys? Make a hamper/mini-hamper depending on budget.

If he’s a lovely guy, don’t give him something embarrassing or some crap he’s going to throw away. What’s the budget?

Wine, cheese, and a plant.

The poor guy has lost his job through redundancy. You all get to keep your job. Don’t give him shit presents, what a way to make him feel worse!!

This^^

I'd get him the wine and maybe a gift card. Don't set out to humiliate him. He's just been made redundant. The people telling you to embarrass him are idiots

Ohpleeeease · 06/07/2026 18:59

Decent travel mug, quality coffee set, nice biscuits, interesting socks (I’m sure there’s a company that sells socks in threes so you don’t have a pair!)

MyNameIsBatty · 06/07/2026 18:58

I'd go restaurant voucher, John Lewis voucher or something nice for the garden (providing he has one).
Agree that balloons are such a rubbish present...useless and just end up in the bin after a week.

Nighttimenoise · 06/07/2026 18:55

Does he have a garden, maybe a small acer in a nice pot ?

RubyFatball · 06/07/2026 18:55

MasterBeth · 06/07/2026 18:54

Grim as fuck present.

Sure, but the guy is being made redundant. If I was up against it, I’d want cash money, not flowers and balloons.

MasterBeth · 06/07/2026 18:54

RubyFatball · 06/07/2026 18:36

A one for all gift card

Grim as fuck present.
