To ask if you have had a boob job?

I've always had really tiny boobs (32B) and have always really disliked them. I know it's really silly but I just feel like less of a woman with them being this small. When I was breastfeeding my kids, I went up to a 36C-D, and was elated with them. Now they've sagged and deflated and I'm back to hating them again. They used to be even smaller when I had an ED, they were a 30A.

I don't know what to do. I want to get a breast augmentation but I have a lot of reservations about it, namely;

  • cost
  • cost of second one when needing to get them switched out
  • not wanting to do it then regret it
  • considering maybe a fat transfer instead as I don't particularly like the implant look, but I feel anything would be better than this
  • I don't want my DD to look at me and wonder why I have done this. I don't want her to think she needs to change herself. Equally, I'm all about supporting people doing whatever makes them feel good. Yet, I can't help but feel implants are rooted in pandering to the male gaze. On the contrary, I feel that having boobs is of course a feminine quality, so maybe it's not all about that? I'm trying to figure out in my head if I'm doing it to look better for myself or other people.

This is something that I am very insecure about, so please be kind. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with small boobs, I just wish mine were bigger. I know I should be grateful that they breastfed my kids etc., and I truly am. It's just the size that bothers me. I feel like clothes just look childish on me because of it, too.

Have you ever had a boob job and did you regret it, or were you happy with them? Any complications and would you recommend? Would be interested to hear if anybody has had a fat transfer there, as well.

Yabu - don't get one
Yanbu - get one if you want to

How would it benefit you to do this?
You'd just be doing it for how others react to your appearance. I think as you get older you'd stop giving a shit about this.

You mention an eating disorder. Have you honestly explored your thoughts about whether this is related?

And there aren't any gradations to being a woman - I suspect you know this. You're female, you're no more or less a woman than any other female person.
You're possibly conflating being female with societal and cultural notions of femininity. The more people who resist those, the better, in my view! Modelling adherence to feminine standards isn't the most accepting way of bringing up a daughter.

I'm not meaning to have a go at you - at all. I just suspect there is a lot to unpack here.

Thank you for saying this. I have been going back and forth in my mind about my true intentions behind this. I think some of it comes from abuse, being mocked over it, being told I'm too small everywhere (by a past partner, ex-friends) etc etc. There's a lot to it, you are right. I feel like other women have put me down most about it in my life that kind of is what made me associate them with being 'womanly', as well as seeing it in media and so on.

I have been and am in therapy regarding the ED, and we have together determined it likely plays a part in this. My therapist suggested that once I 'fix' this, there will be something else. She could be right. But for me, if have come a long way since then and for the first time in a long time I am happy with my body as it is. I am grateful for it. It's just this one thing that really bothers me and I'm trying my hardest to just work through it mentally but I guess we will see. I appreciate this comment a lot. Thank you

I had a similar story to you. I had them done 18yrs ago. They said at the time they would need to be replaced after 10 years, they've been checked and are fine. My scars are barely seen unless looking for them (under boob). Best thing I ever done.

SuperGinger · 06/07/2026 18:32

I think small boobs are so elegant. I used to have small boobs but now that are huge, they are annoying. I would swap with you. Mine are an okay shape and surprisingly pert but I think big boobs are just frumpy.

I’ve had one in March this year - an enlargement and uplift. I only went up 1 cup size, and this more so to fill out the cups once lifted (from an empty 32D to - full cup 32DD

I knew I was done having children, I’ve also lost weight.
I chose not to go too big so they look in proportion with the rest of my body.
I went to a local private hospital after researching the consultants, speaking to some of the school mums I’m close too (2 of them had seen the surgeon I was considering) and I had 2 consultations with him prior to the op

I've had no negative side effects and recovery was excellent. Most of the scarring is already barely visible 3 months later

Interesting, this is the kind of way I was thinking of going. I'm very petite (size 6, 5'1) so I didn't want some random massive boobs. Just maybe a 32C/D or something like that. I'm so glad that you're happy with yours, do you feel more confident? That's all I'm hoping to achieve, it's the only thing I'm really insecure about tbh.

Well the main complication is the 1 in 57,000 people who die due to complications. And the fact that women with implants are three times more likely to die from certain cancers.

Where on earth did you get the cancer ‘fact’ from?

tillyandmilly · 06/07/2026 18:28

Please don’t put these things into your body - I have heard plenty of horror stories - surely something you put under the skin with all sorts of silicone chemicals is not going to be good for you in the long run -

MatildaTheCat · 06/07/2026 18:26

My best friend had hers done and she sounds similar to you in size.

Firstly, she was black
and blue and in extreme pain initially as the implants were placed under the muscle. Then she was really unhappy with how big and ‘matronly’ she looked after a lifetime of being able to wear skimpy vests etc.

If she could have faced the pain I think she’d have had them redone at a far smaller size, ie a firmer and perter version of her old breasts

Ive had three, each one worse than the last. Currently 5 months post op dealing with open wounds still. It is genuinely horrific and I cannot tell you how much I wish id never done anything to my perfectly normal little boobs. Loads of people have no issues but you need to be prepared for complications and if you have body issues this will not solve it. Sorry to be so negative but its important to know both sides.

Wow okay so that is the reality. I have heard this before but kind of always thought it only happened to a few people. Thanks for the warning I hope you get it sorted

Yes about 15 years ago I’d lost 12 stone and they were like snoopies ears - I had implants which are fine still but I didn’t have nipples moved or anything so they were never going to be ‘perfect’ just a lot better. I had them done at BUPA it was about £5k

FocusToday · 06/07/2026 18:17

I had my boobs done 3 years ago.

You will/ should have a few consultation before booking in a surgery date. They gave me a bra which they put demos in, so you can see and feel the potential, obviously it’s not perfect. I also had a 3D picture to help me give an idea.

I’ve always been very small. I thought I was a 30B turned out I was a 28AA. I’m currently a 28F, which sounds big but I’m 5ft6, and never had anyone say they are too big looking. I did have 375cc implants.

You will be given an option also what types of boobs you would like - tear drop which are more naturally looking or the round ones which are the fake looking mores.

I love my boobs, and so glad I done it and waited til after I decided to have no more children. I feel it makes me feel more like a woman.

It costs me around £4500, and under the muscle but that was purely because I had no boobs. If I had boobs to reconstruct/ movement of nipples it would be an additional £3000!

I have had eating problems, if you do forward with it. You will gain water weight for a few days. I gained 10 pounds after surgery, and cried. Few days later it was all gone and must have been water weight.

I was back in work, a week after but I work in Admin.

Hope that helps x

MrsMoastyToasty · 06/07/2026 18:09

No , my H cups are "home grown" (I'm also fat). One thing I would say is bigger boobs are heavy. I reckon if I weighed mine they would weigh several pounds.

MxCactus · 06/07/2026 18:07

I don't know if this is helpful OP but I had the same pre pregnancy boobs as you - tiny! And I always wanted them bigger.

Post pregnancy and breastfeeding my boobs are big, about a 30F I think, and honestly now I have big boobs I never ever think about them. It made me realise how ridiculous I was for caring so much about them being so small. Having big boobs has made no difference to my life whatsoever. I've found something else to hate.

That being said I also think you should do what makes you happy! And if bigger boobs would then why not - go do it and enjoy them

Brokedownpalace · 06/07/2026 18:03

No, I'm a 32A. It was boobs or teeth for me and I chose to have my teeth done instead 😁

If you want to do it go for it, as long as you are doing it for you and you only then it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

InLoveWithAI · 06/07/2026 17:53

Well to go against the grain of all those with naturally large breasts who hate them... I love mine. Always have.

I'm a 30h. I don't have back ache, have gorgeous lingerie (never understand those comments, where are people shopping?) and clothes look great on me, and I certainly don't look frumpy.

For you though OP as you've had an ED in the past I would perhaps be cautious. But it's your body, and your choice and if you think this will help you, then go for it. Do your research on your surgeon and look after yourself.

AGreatUsername · 06/07/2026 17:45

I had one 16 years ago in my early twenties. Probably one of the best things I ever did. I was a 30AA and went to a 30E (really not that big, no one has ever guessed they’re not real and as they’ve aged they have sagged a little and look totally normal).

I went with Spire, and a surgeon who was also a reconstructive breast surgeon for the NHS. It is well worth spending good money rather than trying to save on cheaper options.

ClippyMuldoon · 06/07/2026 17:44

I am having my natural boobs reduced. I am done, I want normal clothes and underwear and swimwear, and most of all I want the backache to go away. 34GG and I hate them. I look dumpy in shirts, my preferred clothing style leans more fitted and tailored but these two saggy melons are more suited to the prow of a ship. Be careful what you wish for.

Operation is in September, I will ritually burn the giant-strapped bras and skip to Cos to buy a strappy dress. Target is a C, hoping for B.

Branleuse · 06/07/2026 17:40

Yes about 15/16 years ago.
After I'd finished having kids and breastfeeding, I decided to get sterilised and have a breast lift and implants.
They've been fine so far, although they are not as perky as they were, but I think they suit my figure, which always used to be more pear shaped, so it really just made me look more hourglass instead. I don't regret it, in fact I rarely even think about them now, whereas I used to be preoccupied by how much I hated them

VoltaireMittyDream · 06/07/2026 17:40

A friend of mine nearly died of sepsis after an infected shaving cut spread to the tissue around her implants. She was in hospital for nearly a month - at one point the doctors were suggesting they may need to amputate her arms to save her life.

That was enough to make me want to leave my tiny boobs alone.

username2185 · 06/07/2026 17:32

I had one at 19, now in my 30’s and had two kids in that time. I don’t regret a thing! Mine are only around a C/D cup, under the muscle and tear drop shape so look natural. They are saline. I’m naturally slim and felt I didn’t fill out clothes properly.

I went to a spire clinic in and out same day, I’ve not even thought about getting them re done tbh.

I had them done on a Thursday and went back to work on the Monday (office job)

You can only tell mine are fake when I lay down (with no bra on) my consultant wouldn’t do anything stupid on me and also told me I’d never grow boobs as I didn’t have enough breast tissue/fat.

RoseOliviaAu · 06/07/2026 17:30

MightyGoldBear · 06/07/2026 17:26

I think there is potential you may be just as unsatisfied with them the other side.
I haven't had a boob job but I went from smallish very much wanted bigger. To then much bigger GG after breastfeeding. They have settled to f now but I feel frumpy and I can't wear what I'd like because everything is too boobie or doesn't fit my chest. The bra selection is dire when you have big boobs. I used to wear the prettiest bras when I had c cups. Exercising is a pain. When I had smaller boobs I imagined being able to dress and "showcase" a bigger pair and feeling super confident. It's never been that way at all. If anything I cover them up because they feel a bit too in your face and almost distasteful.
That's how it's been for me I appreciate everyone is different but I'd give it some real serious thought.

ThejoyofNC · 06/07/2026 17:23

I think given your comment about feeling like "less of a woman" and your history of ED then you ought to be very cautious. Sounds like you would benefit from focusing on your mental health before your physical appearance. Having big boobs won't fix your body issues all of a sudden.

Purplecatshopaholic · 06/07/2026 17:16

I havent. But if I wanted them fixed I absolutely would. If it’s something you want done, and have the money then do your research find the right surgeon and go for it.

Spidey66 · 06/07/2026 17:10

i have big boobs naturally and I hate them. They make me look even fatter than I am and I find it hard to find clothes that suit me. Bras for bigger women are ugly and harder to find. When I was younger I found men were often more interested in my boobs than me.

i hope I don’t come across as judgmental but for the life of me I don’t understand why women want bigger boobs.

ohyesido · 06/07/2026 17:04

If you can afford to, and you want it for yourself then why not?

i personally would not, because I’d be afraid of them rupturing and I couldn’t bear to lose the nerve endings in my nipples. But that’s just me.
