To ask if you have had a boob job?

I've always had really tiny boobs (32B) and have always really disliked them. I know it's really silly but I just feel like less of a woman with them being this small. When I was breastfeeding my kids, I went up to a 36C-D, and was elated with them. Now they've sagged and deflated and I'm back to hating them again. They used to be even smaller when I had an ED, they were a 30A.

I don't know what to do. I want to get a breast augmentation but I have a lot of reservations about it, namely;

  • cost
  • cost of second one when needing to get them switched out
  • not wanting to do it then regret it
  • considering maybe a fat transfer instead as I don't particularly like the implant look, but I feel anything would be better than this
  • I don't want my DD to look at me and wonder why I have done this. I don't want her to think she needs to change herself. Equally, I'm all about supporting people doing whatever makes them feel good. Yet, I can't help but feel implants are rooted in pandering to the male gaze. On the contrary, I feel that having boobs is of course a feminine quality, so maybe it's not all about that? I'm trying to figure out in my head if I'm doing it to look better for myself or other people.

This is something that I am very insecure about, so please be kind. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with small boobs, I just wish mine were bigger. I know I should be grateful that they breastfed my kids etc., and I truly am. It's just the size that bothers me. I feel like clothes just look childish on me because of it, too.

Have you ever had a boob job and did you regret it, or were you happy with them? Any complications and would you recommend? Would be interested to hear if anybody has had a fat transfer there, as well.

Yabu - don't get one
Yanbu - get one if you want to

Yes …… I have had what you call a ‘boob job’ but mine was having a breast removed due to breast cancer. I would like nothing more than being back to how I was, but it’s not possible. Reading posts and responses like these makes me wish so much that women could be happy with what breasts they have.
Try to think positively about being healthy and don’t put yourself through unnecessary surgical procedures.

Andshesoffatatrot · 06/07/2026 19:16

I’m a 34AA

Yes they are tiny.
Gravity doesn’t effect tiny things quite so much
i can sleep on my front
i can run with ease
I can exercise
People think I’m thinner than I am
i can wear a (very) padded bra if I want/need
They are very sensitive so wouldn’t want that compromised!

I would not add a foreign body in me

I plan to live a loooong healthy life to about 98, that’s far too much hassle to keep swapping my knockers.

Do I love my boobs? I suppose I’d to have grown bigger ones, but hey, the girls worked when I needed them to

Jerrybalanitis · 06/07/2026 19:13

As @FocusToday said, not for the shy. The consultations are like an 80s page 3 shoot! You have to stand there with your worst parts exposed for the before photos. It's quite good for having to face up to the fact it is a serious surgery and not an easy fix and you have to be careful after and wear the support bras for ages. Don't be tempted to rush it, my friend got fat necrosis from overdoing it, going out drinking and to the gym far too early.

MrsKateColumbo · 06/07/2026 19:12

It seems like you personally have a lot to unpack mentally and I would advise waiting in your case.

I had mine done 12 years ago, in 5'5 size 6 and I LOVE mine. They (imo) look great and aren't too big/small. Had no issues (touch wood) and recovery was fine. Mine dont make me look fat as they are very perky (and obvs the rest of me is slim). Im a 30e/f so not enormous.

It's not for everyone so you need to be extremely sure.

A friend of mine nearly died of sepsis after an infected shaving cut spread to the tissue around her implants. She was in hospital for nearly a month - at one point the doctors were suggesting they may need to amputate her arms to save her life.

That was enough to make me want to leave my tiny boobs alone.

Oh my god, are you being serious??? That's so terrifying. I am honestly horrified after reading that. I am adding all of these comments to a list of sorts to try and help me to decide what to do. This is going at the top of the cons list, in bold. Thank you for sharing, really hope your friend is okay now (is she??)

I had a lift only after weight loss. I am a 32B and the main thing about surgery i think is that you get back about a third of your trunk as if you are suddenly standing up straight. Before the lift, the middle section of my trunk (if thats what its called?) Was kind of covered by the sagging but now I dont even bother with a wired bra. Best thing I did after the gastric sleeve. I do a lot of pilates now and love that my boobs are smaller and compliment my body. I dont think I have said the word trunk since I was at boarding school, I hope you know what I mean though 😀

FocusToday · 06/07/2026 18:17

I had my boobs done 3 years ago.

You will/ should have a few consultation before booking in a surgery date. They gave me a bra which they put demos in, so you can see and feel the potential, obviously it’s not perfect. I also had a 3D picture to help me give an idea.

I’ve always been very small. I thought I was a 30B turned out I was a 28AA. I’m currently a 28F, which sounds big but I’m 5ft6, and never had anyone say they are too big looking. I did have 375cc implants.

You will be given an option also what types of boobs you would like - tear drop which are more naturally looking or the round ones which are the fake looking mores.

I love my boobs, and so glad I done it and waited til after I decided to have no more children. I feel it makes me feel more like a woman.

It costs me around £4500, and under the muscle but that was purely because I had no boobs. If I had boobs to reconstruct/ movement of nipples it would be an additional £3000!

I have had eating problems, if you do forward with it. You will gain water weight for a few days. I gained 10 pounds after surgery, and cried. Few days later it was all gone and must have been water weight.

I was back in work, a week after but I work in Admin.

Hope that helps x

This was such a helpful comment, thanks so much. Lots of useful information and I can really envision the who process now. I like that they showed you what it would roughly look like and feel like, I think that would help a lot. Were the consultations paid? It sounds like you got them for a really good price. I would definitely want something natural, not too big, just enough to fit my body a bit better. Glad you warned me about the water weight gain as well as I would probably spiral if that happened and I had no warning.

Lots to think about, thank you so much x

I think there is potential you may be just as unsatisfied with them the other side.
I haven't had a boob job but I went from smallish very much wanted bigger. To then much bigger GG after breastfeeding. They have settled to f now but I feel frumpy and I can't wear what I'd like because everything is too boobie or doesn't fit my chest. The bra selection is dire when you have big boobs. I used to wear the prettiest bras when I had c cups. Exercising is a pain. When I had smaller boobs I imagined being able to dress and "showcase" a bigger pair and feeling super confident. It's never been that way at all. If anything I cover them up because they feel a bit too in your face and almost distasteful.
That's how it's been for me I appreciate everyone is different but I'd give it some real serious thought.

Thanks for this - I have been thinking I can imagine myself being miserable after having them done, knowing me. You sounded very similar to how I feel now - like I just wish they were a bit bigger to look better in clothes, feel more confident etc. Such a mixed bag of comments it has given me so much to think about. Thank you for sharing, I do appreciate it

Interesting, this is the kind of way I was thinking of going. I'm very petite (size 6, 5'1) so I didn't want some random massive boobs. Just maybe a 32C/D or something like that. I'm so glad that you're happy with yours, do you feel more confident? That's all I'm hoping to achieve, it's the only thing I'm really insecure about tbh.

If you are small and slim don’t get bigger boobs. Slim with small boobs is a great look.

MxCactus · 06/07/2026 19:05

OP I just read you're 5ft 1 and size 6 - me too!

Just thought to come on and mention that my big post breastfeeding boobs actually looked awful on my frame, really matronly and "mumsy" and I looked quite out of proportion/short and stout. They got smaller about a year pp but at 30F or 28G they definitely make me look "older" than when I had tiny boobs pre pregnancy.

I still probably prefer them bigger but just a warning to not go too big and also big boobs do make you look less slim.

Heckinhackedoff · 06/07/2026 19:01

ThejoyofNC · 06/07/2026 17:23

I think given your comment about feeling like "less of a woman" and your history of ED then you ought to be very cautious. Sounds like you would benefit from focusing on your mental health before your physical appearance. Having big boobs won't fix your body issues all of a sudden.

Yes this is true, I've just been saying to someone else that while I am working through it in therapy, I'm also working through a lot of other trauma and honestly cba with all the mental processing right now. Been in for years. It sounds like such a cop out but I feel like it would just be a quick way to make me feel a bit better. I know the right thing to do would be to work through it in therapy and deal with the mental side of things instead. I think I will try at this first and see if I still feel the same. I'm just not sure I'm willing to give it an awful lot of time. Thank you though

I have been looking into it for a while but just still unsure. The procedure itself is what scares me, as well as people saying they've had infections and other horrible recoveries. I do think it would make me feel better, but I'm starting to question for how long before I think about the next procedure, as you have stated. I don't think I'd get addicted but then again I'm probably just being naive as I am rather insecure and impulsive lol.

It's wise to be concerned that once you start doing such things, it can become more normalised.
And I'm sure your breasts are absolutely fine. Mine are a similar size and a wee bit saggy but I'm not tying them round my waist! 🤣
Having small ones is good in many ways and you may regret how it changes the proportion of your body. And how you feel and move.

Either way, you don't 'need' surgery. But if you do go for it do so with all the knowledge possible.

Hellohelga · 06/07/2026 19:00

I’m 32B and I consider them the perfect size. Big boobs go saggy with age and hurt when you run.

notanotherfootballmatch · 06/07/2026 19:00

I was 30A before breastfeeding and didn't register on the scale afterwards. It did leave me really paranoid for several years, especially as fashion seemed very cleavage heavy at the time. So I understand where you are coming from.

I didn't want surgery but after a few years I accepted my body and it doesn't bother me at all now, if really is incredibly freeing when you just accept yourself as you are - it doesn't happen overnight though.

On the practical side - do consider seriously side effects such as them feeling artificial and numb in parts. Some women really regret having them for this reason.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 06/07/2026 18:57

Yes I've had two.First one before dc and second one after.Research your surgeon.Id highly recommend Mr Moritt at Claremont Hospital Sheffield.

Heckinhackedoff · 06/07/2026 18:57

Spidey66 · 06/07/2026 17:10

i have big boobs naturally and I hate them. They make me look even fatter than I am and I find it hard to find clothes that suit me. Bras for bigger women are ugly and harder to find. When I was younger I found men were often more interested in my boobs than me.

i hope I don’t come across as judgmental but for the life of me I don’t understand why women want bigger boobs.

Yeah my only real concern appearance wise was them making me look fat. From the ED this is a big worry for me. I was hoping to only go up a bit though not majorly. Thanks for this though, I'm considering all of these comments in my decision

ohyesido · 06/07/2026 17:04

If you can afford to, and you want it for yourself then why not?

i personally would not, because I’d be afraid of them rupturing and I couldn’t bear to lose the nerve endings in my nipples. But that’s just me.

I would honestly love to lose all feeling in my nipples, I cannot stand them being touched after almost 4 consecutive years of breastfeeding. Never again!

Though this was my initial thought - I can afford it, so why not? Yet reading this thread I'm beginning to realise it could be a lot of hassle, potentially more than it's worth...

OP posts:
fashionqueen0123 · 06/07/2026 18:53

What would worry me is implant illness. I’ve seen lots of women documenting their explant surgeries recently.

Heckinhackedoff · 06/07/2026 18:52

LauraJaneGrace · 06/07/2026 17:04

I had bigger boobs before breastfeeding, not massive but just a pain in the arse in terms of buying clothes.
I think clothes hand so much better on a smaller chest.

So , personally no, I cannot fathom how anyone can think their life would be better wearing a bigger bra... however I absolutely understand body insecurities and can understand that we all fixate to some degree on what we perceive to be our imperfections.
Freedom from this way of thinking came as I got older and certainly couldn't give a shiny shit about the male gaze.

If you really think that it would enhance your life to have major surgery then go for it, don't skimp on the cost in these fly by night clinics.

But be honest.... would you stop after the surgery or would you insecurity move towards another perceived imperfection?

Sometimes the answer is surgery, sometimes the answer is boosting our confidence in other ways.

Ack I'm honestly beginning to have second thoughts. I think when I thought about it in my head for the last year it just made sense that it was the right thing to do. Loads of my friends have had them done and are so pleased with them I thought why not me as well. I read people's views on other sites and mostly all positive. Yet reading this thread and all of the little complaints people have I think would really annoy me, and I'd end up insecure about the implants (knowing me).

I also think it is in large part something im better off mentally working through, but after having been through so much I just wanted a bit of space from mental processing and to cop out on the easy option. Sounds stupid because it is, but it's what I actually was thinking. Now I just don't know.

Washerboard · 06/07/2026 18:51

I started to make peace with my smaller breasts when I started seeing more actresses with bodies like mine, particularly on Netflix. Dh has always liked my figure and been vocally appreciative but I always heard that as him saying what he thought I wanted to hear and it just made me feel more insecure. Then I stumbled on a fetish board one day, where men were talking about slim, small breasted women and it was the first time that I properly grasped that my body was both feminine and attractive.

That sort of unlocked something inside me. I was able to hear and receive dh’s compliments as well. It hurts a bit that I was with him for 12 years at that point, feeling the way I had every time he tried to admire me.

Now I’m not suggesting you go looking for a fetish site, but I’m sharing because you mentioned feeling childish and less of a woman, and it just seems like there might be room to explore those feelings first?

Heckinhackedoff · 06/07/2026 18:48

Yetanotherone12 · 06/07/2026 17:03

Honestly, it’s not that great.

i don’t have massive boobs, about a 34DD. However even at that size I’d much prefer them to be smaller- I struggle with running and impact exercise. I also hate the tight sports bras I need to wear to stop the bounce.

i dislike the bras I need to wear. Tight and uncomfortable. Yes they are the correct size before anyone asks. I really hate underwire, so wear sports bras most of the time.

i’d love to be able to wear the lighter bra/crop top style, but they are just too heavy. So I’m in my shock absorbers and t-shirts in the gym while others wear lululemon strappy tops that look much more comfortable.

Interesting take, thank you for this. Skimming through the thread and can see many people not fully happy with their decision post-op. I didn't really consider all of these little things tbh so I'm glad I made the thread. In my head a boob job is just a quick answer to make my insecurity go away. But now thinking about all this idk if it would be worth it

Was replying to a quote here about having to have them redone later down the line etc but the quote disappeared, sorry

If you can afford it and it really means a lot to you to feel much better then go for it.

Definitely research long and hard for a really reputable surgeon and don't go too big.

At this point in time I'm fine with my boobs but wouldn't mind them to be be a bit perkier. I don't have the money to consider it but if I did It might be on the agenda in future.

The only thing I think I'd worry about is getting addicted to cosmetic surgery. And losing sight of your natural healthy self.

I have been looking into it for a while but just still unsure. The procedure itself is what scares me, as well as people saying they've had infections and other horrible recoveries. I do think it would make me feel better, but I'm starting to question for how long before I think about the next procedure, as you have stated. Wow ok yikes a lot of horror stories!

For balance - I had mine done 8 years ago once breastfeeding out the way. I'd gone from a 32b to not even being able to fill an A. My chest was totally flat like a man, could see all my ribs. I also have broad hips so it was just such a bad look and I couldn't get any clothes to fit at all.

Went up to a 34C and never looked back. Obviously I did my research and got a surgeon with great results. Checked no outstanding claims or anything against him. Was meticulous on aftercare and wound maintenance (infections should be absolutely avoidable). They look great and natural as I didn't go big.

They totally changed my relationship with my body. I only wish I had them done years before.
