I am not sure whether to treat this as a drunken comment or something a bit more sinister. Early hours of this morning with my boyfriend, waiting for a taxi after a night out. He suggested getting a kebab - I said I was never keen on these as I was worried what was in the meat. He said that never concerned him as he ‘used to eat the arses of women he’d just met on nights out’ so he wasn’t screamish about kebabs. I told him I found the comment disgusting and he did apologise and said it was many years ago.

I find it immature at best. He’s early 30’s now!

The PP I'd replied to was being very condescending telling someone their bar was very low when they didn't see the humour as an issue and calling the man referred to in the OP crass.
I suppose if we want to avoid the term pearl clutching, I could instead say people are uptight, boring snobs to not see the funny side. Is that more in-line with calling someone crass and telling someone their bar is very low? Or are insults only okay when you agree with them?

Perhaps they don't see the humour in it because there is no humour in it?

I think having a certain expectation that somebody isn't goung to resort to vulgar and crude language and expressions isn't snobbishmess. It's just normal among civilised people.

Fair enough if you enjoy crude and vulgar language. A lot of people don't. And it doesn't make them uptight, boring , snobs.

Well then you should ask to meet good guy you can both sit and make crass vulgar jokes about women and women. I guess these low life’s deserve love too/

Backawayfromthesausage · 05/07/2026 20:50

I very much doubt this is thr first crass and vulgar comment he’s made, no emotionally mature, intelligent man randomly and suddenly says something like that,

so Id be surprised if you didn’t know he was that guy. Immature, crude, crass, vulgar and a bit thick.

Rubyslipperswitch · 05/07/2026 20:29

What a crass, vulgar and random comment to make.

Completely off putting. Get rid.

Didimum · 05/07/2026 20:22

No, I don’t associate with people like that, let alone date them.

Wingingit73 · 05/07/2026 20:19

Yuk. This is how he will talk about you.

Why is it some pp on MN just have to bring pearl clutching into so many threads?
An absolutely toe curling expression that says much more about the user than it ever does about those they are trying to insult.

I can only speak for myself but it wouldn’t really bother me

SpinandSing · 05/07/2026 19:37

Wow - that’s fucking appalling. What a gross and insensitive thing to say. No doubt that would give me the ick and I could never let that man ever go down on me again. He’s committed relationship suicide here hasn’t he?

Screamish 😂 it would make me scream too !

That would give me the massive ick

This!!

I didn’t know screamish was a word!! Squeamish on the other hand…

Limpopdotoy · 05/07/2026 19:25

On the goat point, anyone buying a donner kebab in the expectation of getting premium lamb is naive.

AnonymityAnonymity · 05/07/2026 19:22

CombatBarbie · 05/07/2026 18:58

Many would call it humour.

The prudeness on MN never fails to shock me. Its a very normal sexual act.

Disliking vulgarity has nothing to do with prudishness.

Vomiting in your own mouth is also a vile saying.

Indeed. Also not sure why the poster had to specify it was her ‘own mouth’ she’d (supposedly) vomited in. Whose else was it likely to have been?

AnonymityAnonymity · 05/07/2026 19:19

JLou08 · 05/07/2026 17:00

What makes you think their bar is low?
Not everyone is clutching their pearls at sexual humour. It's not about having a bar, it's about different values and personalities.

It’s not true.
The OP made it up.

Oh thank God. After the other thread where at least three men ordered us to find the phrase "whiffy growler" utterly hilarious, one of them referred to the site as "full of females" like a dairy herd, another mansplained Blackadder and one declared it "fascinating" that women don't laugh at his shit jokes, this kind of shite starts sounding more and more plausible.

Morepositivemum · 05/07/2026 19:15

See I think it means he has a certain sense of humour. It would be the opposite of mine so I’d be out

I just vomited in my own mouth. It's a no from me.

What?? Unpleasant I agree but you vommited?

dh280125 · 05/07/2026 19:11

I have the ick on your behalf

ChaliceinWonderland · 05/07/2026 19:11

You need to rethink your choice of partner. There are 8billion men in the world, don't settle for this.
BTW is squeamish..

Viviennemary · 05/07/2026 19:10

Not even sure what that means. Maybe it's better that way.

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 05/07/2026 19:10

Ponoka7 · 05/07/2026 19:05

Are the kebabs getting made and served in the UK? Are the people who are serving the kebabs generally British (regardless of colour or possibly birth place)? Do the kebabs from our dodgy take away places, remotely resemble the kebabs in Turkey etc? Has there just been a massive fine imposed on Kismet Kebabs? So no, not disparaging to another culture's food. Just like not wanting a £1 lasagne from Iceland isn't insulting Italy.

I actually don’t disagree. I would simply apply the same contextualisation to OP’s boyfriend’s remarks… unlike the mumsnetter whose comment I responded to 🤷‍♀️
