Just seen this on the BBC - there is an issue with weather.

Keep an eye out - I've posted here for most traffic.

Didn't know there was a poll..

YABU keep it at 1am.

YANBU get a good nights sleep.

That ok?

Kick off is still 1am UK time. Apparently FIFA wanted to announce it on Friday but both Mexico and England weren’t happy with the proposed late change so FIFA have done a U-Turn and kept the original kick off time

Blatantly as a result of the reduction in viewers for overnight games… and the reduction in advertising revenues.

Much though I’d love to watch it, 1am just isn’t workable…

What a load of nonsense.

sittingonabeach · 04/07/2026 00:22

@Eastie77Returns might not be Argentina!

CaesarAugusta · 04/07/2026 00:03

According to current reports no final decision has been taken on this.

CaffeinatedMum · 03/07/2026 23:31

I don’t work Mondays and am due to be driving Sunday evening…. In the minority hoping the KO remains at 1am!

poletpooh · 03/07/2026 23:12

With the altitude and no time to acclimatise, England have no chance whatever time the kick off is.

Eastie77Returns · 03/07/2026 23:11

It doesn’t matter what time the game is played, England are not going to win. Which is a blessing really because it’s Argentina in the next round and England would be completely humiliated against Messi and co. Best to go out quietly 2-1 to Mexico

Hohofortherobbers · 03/07/2026 23:06

Please please let them do this!!

We have spent £250 on going to our first gig as a family. We never go out on a Sunday evening. Now what?? The venue isn't even in England.

You go to your gig

Netcurtainnelly · 03/07/2026 22:57

Hope so.

I know it sounds like sour grapes blah blah, but why choose such a venue for any team ? It seems unfair if you’re not Mexico! I think England are screwed, but they have to go out and do their best. They must know they are the underdogs here!

I think it’s because Mexico is a joint host and this is their iconic stadium, and the last game to be played outside the US (iirc). To be fair, Mexico has a greater football pedigree than either the US or Canada, so it’s fair they should play on home turf as a host nation. It’s just very hard on any opponent.

Mexico has only lost twice in their stadium

Not surprised, given that most teams don’t normally play 2000m above sea level and will struggle. I think England are screwed, unfortunately.

GoneWithTHeWindJammers · 03/07/2026 22:12

Bad luck if you are Mexican and have a ticket for the game and have to work Sunday.

It will be warmer here. Move the game to Wembley.

Tryingtokeepgoing · 03/07/2026 22:01

Although given the altitude I imagine the sooner after they arrive in Mexico they play the better their performance, from an English players perspective, as generally the advice for sportspeople is get there just before the event, or allow 10/14 days to acclimatise to the altitude. As they can’t do the latter then an earlier kick off should be better. That and dodging the storms of course :)

Just remember that Norway take on Brazil at 9pm (uk equivalent KO time) and I'd love Norway to win.

Busy day now - DH will watch or sleep thru the F1 and I'll be watching the Womens T20 World Cup final between England and Australia.

I was in Bergen the other day when Norway played France. The locals were amazing, and so good natured in defeat. I hope they win too.

Gosh, you'll be worn out!

HoraceCope · 03/07/2026 21:58

7 00 would be far better for all of england, schools/pubs/police

Tryingtokeepgoing · 03/07/2026 21:58

LuckyHazelFox · 03/07/2026 20:37

Pubs might still be allowed to stay open late.

Please don’t deny Starmer one last ‘U’ turn 😂

Englandkit · 03/07/2026 21:57

The tabloids will be upset. If the display today at Sainsbury’s news stand is anything to go by, they were positively salivating at the prospect of an all night, beer fuelled football party, and zombie kids causing havoc at school on Monday.

I think @MellowZebra was right.

See screenshot from here.

Go have a look at the weather forecast and come back to me.
